De-registering or changing personal details (how 'bout some privacy!)

This post is for the benefit of a friend who registered with her student address and wants to know how she can change or remove her email from being viewed.
I also think as matter of public policy that it should not be the reponsibility of the person registering to un-select having their email address known to others, (ie un-selecting 'yes'). Consent should be positively provided and it's a huge invasion of privacy to find that your email adress is available to all and sundry - even if it was partly through own fault.
Does anyone else think this should be changed?
How can I change my friends details?

thanks luro!
I still think that the registering process should be changed - even if it is easy to change your profile, many people may not be aware that their email is even available.

All you need to do is actually read the text when you're registering. Having "Keep your email address viewable to other users when you post notes?" as the last thing before the submit button works for everyone else. And if you don't want people to be able to view your addy you should simply be careful... and maybe not use a student address.
Sorry I'm rude and curt, but there are so many more important things... and this is a drug discussion forum which has nothing to do with board design... and you posted it 3 times.
I'd put this in the "announcements & comments for webmasters" forum, but they are busy. If you want to redesign the template feel free, there is a new version of bluelight in the works, maybe it'll get used.
