actually it was all chemical brothers.
meh .. at least they werent showing how bad kandykids get over there in da US.
they could have depicted raving / ecstacy as so much worse ..

My only hope is that all the Creek rats die in a freak hollywood style tornado that swallows the town, the people and any possible hope of a spin-off.
p.s. why are you watching that DJC

Chemical Bros, i knew it was something like that, i was laughing too much to even pay much attention, ops. More to the point, how do YOU know Sammy???
wink.gif
You were watching too. And its only Dawsons, they couldn't of depicted it much worse, it would spoil their whole "family orientated show" status.
When you look at what else is on at 8:30, a good laugh at those yanks is all thats left. They make better comedies when they're not trying, hehehe

Haven't watched dawson's yet but i saw the previews, i guess having a "rave" on dawsons creek just shows how mainstream "raving" really is now.
I guess it's part of the government say no to drugs thing cos they can kill you, which is kinda good considering the age group of the majority of dawson's creek's audience. I don't think many bluelighters would want 14 year old children to be lobbing pills and schnuffing meth or speed would we? They're powerful drugs that people have to respect

Just my $0.02

Those pills were the size of stepsils!... Crazy!... I dont know about you but i picked it like a dirty nose.. As soon as she said im taking antidepressents, all this bluelight stuf that has rubed off on me said, here we go, mixing e and antidepressants (ssir's) now thats why shes going to fry some brain..

I like Dawsons Creek. I think its cool
smile.gif
For an hour a week I can escape into a modern-day brady bunch, where lifes problems are so trivial I only wish I were a part of it.
And mikey loves it too. More than me actually. Compare it to those absolutely DREADFUL reality TV shows. Temptation Island (which I confess i'm equally addicted to) it shows humanity at its absolute low point. A disgrace!!
Anyway, Dawsons Creek crew at a rave... They could have portrayed it a lot worse you know! I predicted it from the start. I said to my sister, I bet you Andy takes a bic, but cos she's on anti-depressants she will collapse and go to hospitial. *ta da!*
They want to be seen as not sensationalising, merely giving the characters a chance to show their view of the rave scene in America (thankyou pacey, and yes, it IS only the wasted youth of America) *A----HEM*
Pacey: Highschool dropout (basicaly) Treats his girlfriend like shit (joey potter makes my knees turn to jelly. SO HOT) Dysfunctional family, shite grades, no direction, no best friend, and a girlfriend whose about to dump him. Whose the wasted youth of society now aye??
I could go on for hours.
luv u guys
smile.gif

Twas quite funny seeing all those tools roll up in their shirts (especially the hawaian shirt??) and to hear the same song every scene. just shows you the rave scene is now fucked with every tom dick and cross eyed harry (dawson) going!

it was just a pisser how the made the chick i dunno her name, who was on a pill for the first time, how they made her act, like she kept touching peoples hair and saying stuff like she just didn't have a care in the world at all........
smile.gif
but i didn't agree with how they said "its interesting to see the wasted youth of America" pffffft.

Bars.

I have to say that I'm a Dawsons Creek addict, I was also addicted to Young Americans when it was on, and I'm addicted to Temptation Island too!!
I love the way she acted too!! Maybe she's felt like that before???
PS. Imagine how badly your head would have been done it by Jen telling to act normal all the time!!!!
BASS OUT

Ah, it cracks me up. Reminds me of this article I read a while ago (I think someone posted it on BL originally but here are some choice excerpts..)
It is impossible to become physically addicted to the party drug ecstasy. It will kill you first.
"It's such a toxic drug, you can't produce dependance," said David V. Gauvin, drug science specialist with the Drug Enforcement Administration. "Dead people are not addicted."

Then there's this one:
Also known as "the hug drug" because those who use or "roll" on ecstasy need to be touched constantly, it produces an increase in physical activity. Often the drug is taken at raves, which Gauvin calls "nothing more than a crack house with music." Because of the need for constant physical contact, users often dance with each other for extended periods of time.
Activities considered painful under normal circumstances will take place because of the exaggerated sensations, such as blowing Vicks inhalers into each other's eyes. Users may take turns pulling each other's hair. Sometimes they will pull their own hair. In instances where a user is being taken to the hospital, there have been reports of the people scratching themselves until they bleed because they need to be touched so badly.

Sign me up for that crack house baby! And while you're at it, blow that damn Vicks in my eyes and scratch the shit outta my arms! I wanna get high, so high!
DISCLAIMER The above comments are a piss-take. No, really.

totally agree horsey.
it is teen pop crap - your average teen drama, hormone heavy with lashings of adolescent angst.
but from the start its been a critical and commercial hit and a controversial talking point - since '98.
All its doing is covering issues which affect (american) teens - (pretty much sex / relationships / and recently, getting into college) - its not really dealing with anything teens dont already know about.
The way they dealt with the rave topic, i think, was good .. i mean of course its not realistic, playing the chemical brothers albums and so on, but isnt that a good thing ?
1> they presented ecstacy as being great fun, making the user feel 'happy'.
2> the way andy acted when on the pill was way more genuine than i was expecting.
3> andy collapsed because she mixed street drugs with her medication / antidepressants, not because the pill itself was going to kill her.
and as horsey said, isnt it better getting adolescents (let alone anyone) watchin this sorta thing instead of the recent explosion of 'real-life' shows since last years big success of survivor1.
now we have
shipwrecked, shipwrecked 2, survivor2 (which i am also addicted to), the mole, temptation island (yep, addicted to this also), as well as a couple of new game shows - greed, and the weakest link ..
all of which generally run along the theme of "scheme and plot against the other contestants, putting your own personal interests ahead of everyone elses.. fuck everyone else over so you can get ahead, win the money, etc"
and perhaps even worse with temptation island, separating couples and putting them in the position where they either betray their partner to some extent (that being their choice, of course) or have no fun and not be a valuable part of the show in terms of footage of interest to viewers.
on tuesday two of the guys asked the cameras to leave them alone, that what they were discussing did not concern the show, that it is "their life" ..
to which they were answered with a sharp "your life is the show right now..".
these "real-life" shows are bringing out the ugliest of human traits - greed, betrayal, deceit.. temtation island is on the very edge of complete controversy.. and thats exactly what makes these so appealing to a wide audience of viewers.
but is it (morally) a good message to be sending out, particularly to younger viewers who are more impressionable ?
dawsons creek is cupcakes in comparison !
