Dark maroon-black vs inky-blue-black result

A few people on here have sworn that the old skool MDMA used to test inky-blue to black, which is what distinguished them from the dark-maroon to black color that most Euro MDMA tests for now.

Personally, I don't buy it. But I didn't know anything about MDMA back in the 90s.

I suspect that the people who say that are mixing up the Marquis with the Mecke, which does show an inky blue look.

It is totally possible that they are mixing up the two reagents. The Marquis reagent has been around for a very long time, and I never remember it being blue. Why would they change the reaction color when Marquis is used for testing many different substances?
