Benzos Dangers of Short Term High Dose Benzo Binges

Hey BL... to be honest, I'm a bit nervous about the replies I'm gonna get here. I've been binging on high doses various benzos on and off for the last 5 years. Sometimes I don't won't binge for months, sometimes I binge twice a month for 4 days at a time. It's never constant. Usually what happens is whenever I can obtain a proper rx for benzos, i tend to take them in very high doses, very fast until they are all gone. Usually I don't even do a little taper when I come off my binges, since I usually don't have terrible WD effects. Lately, since I've been binging more often, I've started to feel withdrawal effects and I'm really worried about having a seizure and severe brain damage from this. I often add 1-2 shots of liquor into the mix (although I try not to drink more than that)... and lots of weed.

What are the exact dangers of what I'm doing?? I realize I must be putting my body thru hell by binging hard then stopping cold turkey all of the time... I'm really trying to put a stop to this. I had blood tests done recently, and everything looked fine. Waiting for ECG results and hopefully some more tests in the future.

Doses I would take at one time (for example) would be:
zopiclone (drug of choice) - 8-12 tabs x 7.5 mg
lorazepam - 5-8 mg

Well luckily zopiclone is pretty weak (you probably know this but its not actually a benzo but it mimics the same actions and is cross tolerant with benzos, 15mg of zopiclone has an equivalencie of .5mg alprazolam/xanax)-regardless, lorazepam/Ativan is a potent benzo.

Excessive dosages and abrupt discontinuation is a really dangerous thing to do with this type of drug and this type of behavior can often cause seizures even if the use is really for only a day or two (I knew a kid who tried to use Xanax to kick dope and after about 36 hours of taking them pretty continuously he had a grand mall seizure). I would make sure to have some extra benzos (preferably longer lasting ones-clonazepam,diazepam or even lorazepam compared to some others) saved up if you continue doing this-maybe hide them somewhere before you get two fucked up in a place where you'll be able to find them later, just so that you have spmething should withdrawal hit you really severely.

Most of the dangers of BZDs involve doing dumb shit and getting hurt or arrested or are withdrawal related.

Assuming you keep your usage "moderated" to the point where you dont start taking BZDS on a continuous basis (or binging every weekend) there's not too much to be worried about aside from waking up on the floor occasionally.

While sekio is pretty much spot on, Znegative brings up pretty valid points.

If you keep increasing the frequency of the binges, physical dependence is going to get you and put you in some bad withdrawal. Yes, seizures are very possible. I second having something such as Valium or Klonopin to help if withdrawal is experienced, that is if you continue to binge like you do.

I doubt you're going to experience brain damage just from taking benzos in high doses. But going into withdrawal and having a seizure is a different story.

Physical dependence can happen in as little as a couple days if the dosages are high enough. Plus, even though you are spacing it out, I'm sure tolerance is still having an effect on you. I'm pretty sure this increases your chance of encountering withdrawals even after only a couple days of use.

zopiclone isnt a benzo, but the lorazapam is a pretty high dose (you really take that much at once?? goddamn)

I would chill out on it, I would do the same thing, only with xanax, and would always never feel W/D, but def. notice you kinda feel like shit. I wouldnt W/D symptoms till 2 weeks like they say, but if you keep taking them at high doses something might happen. Watch out for dependence, benzos will creep on you. Dont say I didnt warn you.

-3 weeks still feeling benzo W/D, after taking them every day 9 months.

Again watch it...the w/d is the equivilent to litterally feeling like you got hit by a truck and you have to learn how to do everything in life again. and if never feels like it will end. Truly awful.
