Dance in the Dream.
8/12/04
8 AM

In them
I see
the reflection of what we had
laughing back at me.

My dream come true
put on hold.
It's a thin line,
but is it a dead line,
or an umbillical cord?

And to hear the
liberating voice on
the other end
of the telephone...

Your circumstance,
our complication -- and then
a morbidly ironic situation
blossoms between
two friends
and it's making
me insane,
just what I see:

they have now what
belonged to you and me

and I'm jealous of what
they've got:
what we once had
but now cannot.

And I hate to say it,
but I feel I love you.

I feel I love you,
but I can't hold you.
I admit I love you,
now I can't see you.

And the word means death to me.

I believe in what
the word signifies,
but I've grown
to hate it:

it developed only
once before
and brought nothing
but pain,
and here it
comes again.

And I thought perhaps my fate had changed.

And as if this hopeless situation
was not too much;
as if our distance
were not enough:

they dance in the dream
that belonged to us

and in them
I see
the reflection of what we had
laughing back at me:

like the message of my life;
the punchline of my existence:

the reflection of a dream
that was put on hold:
a dream I try to call back now
through the telephone.

Definately a favorite of mine of your work, and i have pretty high standards for you when i see you write.

Definatey see good stuff here :)

this is so straightforward, no frills, honest, and true. human. you're not caught up in being verbose, and it shows; poetic, but naturally so. thanks for sharing this, and best wishes.
