Dallas police arrested a 48-year-old Brownsville woman Friday after finding more than 7 pounds of heroin in her bag at a bus stop in Buckner Terrace.
Narcotics officers talked with Maria Aramburo after they spotted her “watching detectives closely without turning her head” while walking through a bus terminal in the 8600 block of E. R.L. Thornton Freeway, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. She had two bags and appeared nervous, police said.
The detectives asked to see her bus ticket, which showed she was traveling between Chicago and Brownsville. They then asked for permission to search her bag, and found six “large cans of food” that looked opened and resealed, police said. When they opened the cans, they said they saw liquid seeping off the lid because the cans had been heat-sealed, according to the affidavit.
They opened them completely and found baggies of white powder in each can, police said. The total weight of all the heroin was 3,368.3 grams, or 7.4 pounds.
Aramburo remains in Dallas County jail on a drug dealing charge in lieu of a $500,000 bond. She has no prior criminal history in Dallas County.

I didn't know "watching without turning your head" was grounds for anything. How can you prove someone was following you with their eyes?

I would have said I have a physiological issue with my eye muscles causing them to drift and deny searches. Yes my eyes drift and cause me to deny searches.

Seriously should have been a close call not a search and arrest.

She would have had to give them permission to search her bag, I mean sure they are trained into making you give consent to a search without you really realizing it, but seriously she is an amateur, so why was she trusted with 7 pounds of heroin?
Nothing about this search seems illegal considering they make it seem like she consented the search.

Seven lbs of dope is a drop in the buccket for those dudes
Plus the shit was white. I bet it was some serious fire...would have loved to get some of that...sounds like the cops had the info on her before hand...seems like a lot of ditm stories lately have someone almost randomly getting busted with a huge amount of shit..I could see the NSA having the info then the cops reverse engineering the evidence to hide the source of the info...

Cops have been found reverse engineering cases so it wouldn't shock me. I hear most busts are made due to ratting anyways.

dallas police are actually relatively chill as far as cops go, this makes me wonder if they were actually tipped off... this situation as stated in the article seems really tenuous re: probable cause / reasonable suspicion
