A knife-wielding mum who threatened to 'cut her daughter like a fish' while high on butane gas and a cocktail of other drugs died as the terrified teenager attempted to defend herself, an inquest has heard. The mother, who overcame a heroin addiction only to start sniffing up to 15 canisters of potent butane gas a day, got into an argument with her 14-year-old daughter when her partner left the family home to buy a card for their son’s birthday. Bolton Coroner’s Court was told the 42-year-old mother took a mixture of drugs including butane gas and benzodiazepines when she thrust a knee into her daughter's chest to pin her to the stairs at the family home in the city’s Breightmet area.

In self-defence the frightened teenager pushed her drugged-up mother off with her foot or knee and the woman fell to the foot of the stairs and collapsed. The inquest was read a statement from the woman’s 10-year-old son which described the harrowing moment his sister, now 15, tried to protect herself after his mother had punched her. Police were also told that during the incident the mother had threatened to stab her daughter and 'cut her like a fish'.

Very similar to this US incident.

A spate of cases where people take bath salts, remove their cloths and do crazy things? A mother in the US and the UK taking some kind of legal high, attacking her own family and then collapsing and dying? What's going on here?
 
how does it make sense when the schedule 1 narcotics like heroin, lsd, DMT, marijuana etc... are the safest drugs out there and the schedule 4 and 5 are some of the most dangerous like benzo's and ambien and stuff like that? makes no sense to me...the drug laws are so ass backwards its ridiculous, and then the LEGAL highs are THE MOST dangerous, yet they are not scheduled.
 
The only sensible solution is to ban butane and its dangerous analogs gasoline, computer duster, spray paint, and glue:p.
 
What a sad story, I really feel for her kids. Imagine having a mother like that, the one person who is usually there for you come hell or high water for your whole life.
