Drug peddlers in India are using couriers to sneak out contraband consignments.

That the trend has witnessed an alarming rise is evident from the quantum jump in seizures in 2011. As against the 3,611 kg of dope seized in the country by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in 2010 and the 655 kg in 2009, a phenomenal 11,795 kg was intercepted last year.

The drug consignments were booked as courier parcels in Delhi and were headed for destinations such as Canada, Australia and the UK, the NCB revealed.

'Interception of drug parcels in 2011 was mostly reported from cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Among the drugs being brazenly dispatched through couriers to various destinations abroad as well as within the country are heroin, ketamine, methamphetamine, ephedrine and amphetamine,' the report observed.

Everything I order now from India is held up at customs for inspection. Man those dipshits are slow. My last package has been sitting in their International Depot for almost three months now. Oddly, I've never had any problems with mail coming in from the Netherlands.
