Daily Dispense Rx's...any one else get this

A friend of mine is currently getting 3 x 8 mg hydromorphone dispensed daily for maintenance.
 
I've only ever heard of daily dispense of narcotics happening in Canada.. This thread seems to back that up.. I take it theres a more liberal approach to detox there.. daily dispense of the DOC instead of switching to methadone/subs and tapering from there. Seems pretty cool to me, but i probably wouldn't be able to detox off it either.. so yeah... Never heard of daily dispensing of benzos though.. I assume its also a taper from an addiction, but thats just me guessing...

So can i get any confirmation? Is this mostly a trend in Canada? I've NEVER heard of it happening in Chicago, or even the United States for that matter..

Doesn't matter to me though as I'm on MMT.. 4 takehomes a week.
 
Ya it does happen and I will be tapering 2.5 mgs per month on my diazepam. I get weekend take homes with my diazepam and 6 take homes from my MMT clinic ...but yes daily dispense of the DOC or a substitute (like oxy too ms contin or xanax too clonazepam or diazepam) is common

I do believe this only a happens in liberal countries like Canada and European countries.....the US is like Nazi Germany when it comes to drugs
