Cycloserine

This antibacterial drug has an interesting structure which looks like it could be a possible template for GABA/GABAergic prodrugs. Anyone know how this beast is metabolized and what the metabolites are?

Cycloserine is a partial agonist at the glycine recognition site of the NMDA-receptor. Look here for free info: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17227287?dopt=Abstract

As I read the statement on page 3 (pharmacokinetics), it's not metabolized but excreted unchanged with a halflife of about 10 hours.

Was going to make a comment abpout it's toxicity, but it seems to be relatively non-toxic. Obviously I'd lumped it in with all the other cyclo-compounds that are very nasty...

my take on this: designing any recreational drug based on a therapeutically useful antibiotic structure is completely irresponsible, people don't die from not getting high but they sure as hell do from TB. Any substance would have to be devoid of antibacterial activity at recreational to avoid selection of resistant microbes.
The same applies to substances based on the quinolone -3-carboxylic or 1,8 naphthyridine scaffold.
