Hey guys, I'm new here so I have absolutely no idea where to post this thread. Basically, SWIM is in a bit of a panic right now. 2 nights ago, SWIM got bored as hell and popped down to the local pharmacy to purchase a 32 back of 8/500 Co-codamols. SWIM read up on how to do a CWE on the internet, and decided to give it a go himself, this is how he did it:

1. SWIM crushed up the 32 tablets into a fine powder
2. SWIM then mixed the powder into a jug with fairly warm water and let it settle to room temperature for about 10 minutes
3. SWIM then popped the jug into my freezer for 30 minutes
4. SWIM took the jug out and noticed that (what I had assumed to be) the paracetamol had collected into a sludge at the bottom of the jug
5. He then got a pre-wet coffee filter, secured it over a pint glass and slowly started to pour the solution through the filter
6. After filtering the solution, he noticed it was rather cloudy, so he decided to filter it again just to be safe
7. After the second filtration, the solution was still cloudy, not as cloudy as it was after the first filtration, so SWIM thought it was good to go, poured some Orange squash into it to minimise the horrible taste and drank it down

Needless to say, SWIM had a brilliant night, he spent most of the night in bed feeling absolutely blissful. The next day, SWIM felt a bit rough, very tired and just generally drowsy, no nausea or anything. SWIM went to sleep and had a pretty shitty night sleep, this was more to do with his uncomfortable bed really. SWIM woke up this morning an is still feeling a bit tired, eyes feel a bit heavy, but no nausea, vomiting or anything like that. It's important to note that SWIM is a massive hypochondriac and has been panicking all day about having possibly fucked up the CWE and consumed too much paracetamol. SWIM doesn't feel ill or anything, just tired, and what he's wondering is, if these are some kind of mild withdrawal effects from having consumed 256mg (or however come out through the filtration) couple of nights ago. SWIM searched up the internet about paracetamol overdoses and found that it has absolutely terrified him.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No SWIM here so you might want to edit your post.

The solution is little bit cloudy always, it is not dangerous. The trick is to use as little water as possible to minimize the amount of paracetamol in the solution. Solubility of paracetamol is ~13mg/mL at 20c so in this way you can count the amount of paracetamol in solution. In cold water the solubility drops further down.

How much water did you use?

Next time use lot less water. So you have ingested approx 4 grams of paracetamol which is clearly too much, but you'll be allright it is acute poisoning at worst. Contact a doctor if your symptoms get worse, and avoid alcohol for a while as this stresses your liver even more.

It's not that big dose really. There are people who have been consuming 5 grams/paracetamol a day and are still alive and somewhat healthy. I think it is just your psyche doing some tricks rather than any real poisoning. Dont worry.

What kind of symptoms would I be experiencing now if this was a dangerous overdose? Just called NHS Direct and they told me I should go to my nearest A&E, damn my anxiety xD

You know that suffering from hypochondria you shouldn't read about symptoms because you'll start to feel them all instantly, i've been there too. There are no very clear symptoms that you could perceive yourself anyway. Maybe you should just visit the emergency room to get it out of your mind. Of course you don't need to talk about CWE or codeine there just tell you took excess amount by mistake.

You'll be fine mate.
I too am i massive hypochondriac.
So much so - in my first ever CWE even though i did it near perfectly + my solution was only very slightly cloudy (i took ten 15/500 paracetemol). I still took a trip to A&E because my liver was 'hurting a little bit' - or so i thought lol, turns out i was absolutely fine after a blood test.

I ended up going to A&E. I had to wait for 4 hours to be told I was okay, at least I got some peace of mind...

That's great. I usually use ~50ml of water for CWE and that yields max ~500mg of APAP in the solution.

That's great. I usually use ~50ml of water for CWE and that yields max ~500mg of APAP in the solution. I always use 30/500 pills though, don't know if this works as well for the 8mg codeine pills.

OP should try to put this trip behind him (the worrying part) because you'll be alright.

300ml is too much, however, if you've filtered the solution twice, even with that amount of water, yes, you probably ingested some APAP, but I'd be willing to bet it wasn't more than a gram. APAP is only slightly soluble in water at room temperature and pretty much insoluble in water at close to freezing temp. Again, don't worry about it. I used between 50-100ml when I was CWEing religiously. It became an art, like rolling a joint (if you consider that an art).

Also, if you're still concerned you've stressed or damaged your liver, I recommend you do two things. Look in a mirror and check for jaundice (I would check the white part of my eyes - especially the corners) and head to a herbal supplement shop and pick up a bottle of Milk Thistle. When I was abusing my Percocets (thus, ingesting massive amounts of APAP every day - stupid thing to do, but what's done is done - for months before I "upgraded"), I'd always pop a couple of capsules of Milk Thistle as well. There were days where I'd have a lingering pain right about where my liver is supposed to be. I choose to believe that the fact that I was also using Milk Thistle at the time helped my liver cope with the stupidity I was putting in it.

Since it's an uncontrolled herb, there is little profit for anyone such as pharmaceutical companies to invest enough money for a proper clinical study to be commenced. Therefore, evidence of Milk Thistle's liver healing potential is anecdotal. Again though, give it a try if you wish. IME, there are no side effects (it's not psychoactive, etc.).

Good luck mate.

P.S. - Don't be afraid to not use SWIM around here. We are a harm reduction based forum. We are not here to tell each other how, where and when to score dope, etc.
