Opioids CWE - Heat DOES damage the codeine and/or excipients

I believed that the idea that high temperatures cause codeine to decompose was a myth but a recent experience has caused me to question that belief. I poured boiling water directly onto some co-codamol tablets to dissolve them and I left them to dissolve for a few hours, after which I put the solution in the freezer. When I took the solution out of the freezer and filtered out the insoluble material, I noticed the solution had a slight yellow tint to it. I decided not to ingest it for obvious reasons. I've had this solution sitting in a beaker for a few days now and it is gradually turning orange. Something is definitely decomposing. I don't know whether its the codeine, paracetamol, excipients or what but I'm glad I didn't ingest the solution (I was tempted since at first, I wasn't sure if it actually was changing colour since the discolouration was so mild). Heres what the solution looks like now:

I have used hot water for CWEs in the past and never had any problems but as you can see, this time some kind of decomposition occured.

lol, okay... then, my next question: What are we supposed to be discussing here? Whether heat degrades codeine?

Sorry, I'm still confused.

ah, gotcha. That's what I was thinking. Have you ever explored the blogs feature of BL? that might be a good thing to set up in order to record and share you future experiments. just a thought

^ bro your not even a mod.

everyone knows that barely anyone reads blogs lol.

I was always told to not bother heating the CWE since heating it up only causes more paracetamol to dissolve, which you then have to filter out anyway.

Heat has been proven to damage opiates over and over again by chemists in the lab....

Maybe I'm not understanding this, but what does heat have to do with a COLD water extraction?

I think the OP said she heated the solution up during the stage she was dissolving the codeine.
