A friend of mine is just preparing a Cold Water Extraction of 40 8/500mg Co-codamol tablets. He has crushed all the tablets up, put it into a glass and mixed with lukewarm water. He has used 120ml of water thinking that he'd require a bit more seeing as he'd used 40 tablets. Would you say this is an okay amount?

it's a bit much but will do. Freeze that water though or it's pointless. Just put the glass in the freezer for 30 minutes, break up the ice and put a filter on, put back in freezer and take out when ready.

cold water straight from the tap is fine, I never froze mine and it always turned out good. With 40 tablets I would do it in two lots maybe 200ml for 20 tabs and repeat using two seperate filters because your filter would get to clogged up putting 40 tabs thru it. So you cud just top the water up to 300-400mls stir the shit out of it and run half thru one filter and the other half thru another filter.

That is an enormous amount of water to use mate. 2-3ml per tablet is sufficient you don't need to use more. The more water you use the more para or ibu your CWE will absorb.

What you can do is get it quite cold like everyone else is saying and:

put the 'gloop' in a small wet tea towel or something over a cup, let the liquid run out until its just dripping and then squeeze the shit out of the remainding gloop in the tea towel. You can do this a few times with the 'gloop' to get the maximum amount of codeine.

Get the water close to freezing again.

get a funnel to place some coffee filters in. wet the coffee filters. pour mixture in. most of it will go right through but it will start dripping through slowly after awhile.

You can do that a few times or just once. YMMV. You appear to be using APAP pills so maybe filter it a few times rather then one.
