cutting agents & smoking speed

recently ive noticed, every time i acquire smokable speed in melbourne, after a number of burns on it or after lengthy exposure to heat, the speed goes from its clear liquid form to a slightly dark brown liquid and then solidifies. Its taste changes from a nice sweet taste to a more unpleasant bland taste. I was told smokable speed is cut with caffeine powder which burns fairly clean. is the brownish stuff the cut and have i just smoked away the pure substance?? would anything be active in the brown stuff? should i continue to smoke it till its all gone or leave it alone? also, the residue which is left looks quite nasty, would it do anything if i stuck more speed on top of it and heated it up? should i just look for a clear spot on the pipe or clean the residue off completely with a jet lighter?
obviously smoking drugs is not safe at all but how can i minimise harm?

from my experience, if the speed turns slightly brown and solidifies, it is not smokable. attempted to smoke such gear usually doesn't do much, except waste your gear. better off using other methods of ingestion.

if its smokable, it should turn to liquid, then vapourise. eventually, with continual teazing with a flame, there should be (next to) nothing left. if anything, perhaps a slight brown or white residue should remain. certainly no be crusty bits.

i did some research, caffeine vapourises at a higher temp. than meth, that's why the speed changes colour and even tastes different after a while. the pure substance has been vapourised and all thats left in the pipe is the cut which is pointless to continue smoking, if not harmfull.

The temperature difference may not be that great. The Merck index lists melting point of meth HCl crystals as 170-175 deg C.

Caffeine sublimes at 178 deg C

If the meth your smoking is going black or brown its probably not a good idea to be smoking it. Meth is best vapourised and it sounds like you are just burning the cutting agents, who knows what the smoke produced could be. It could be sugar/glucose it could be something much worse. You shouldn't have anything left in the pipe with good meth.
