Cut Tramadol in half?

Hi - just need a bit of advice. I have been on 100 er tramadol taking up to 3 a day. I want my latest batch to last longer so I have cut 1 er 100 pill in half. I have read varying things on the web. My gut says I will be ok to take it as I am used to much more but I wanted to check in case there is something I don't know about halving tramadol pills .Can anyone help? I would hate to think I cut in half one of my precious pills for nothing:-)
 
Usually pills are OK to split unless they have an ER/CR/TR/CR action (x-release)
you can get a pill splitter so you don't break off tiny chunks and waste them
 
You can cut it in half. Why not? You might cause more of the tramadol to be released because you are destroying the er coating but I highly doubt the 50 mg of tramadol will hurt you if it hits you all at once considering youve been on it. Even if yiu had not been on it 50mg is the smallest dose they make so Im sure you will be fine. I my self have taken doses of 600 -1000mg a once and never had a seizure or any adverse effects. However tramadol no longer seems to give me euphoria like it used to. Now it just makes me feel normal. When I first started using it 300mg would give me a good nod.
 
I just got a script of 60 of then today I took 5 as soon as I got them then about 4 hours later I crushed up 4 of them and added them to my mountain dew. So thats 450 today in 2 doses. I have a pretty high tolerence. But I can assure you unless you are a complete newbie to opiates that cutting just one of the er pills in half and taking it will not hurt you. You are good bro.
 
I think it depends on the formulation of the tramadol whether or not cutting it in half would defeat the time release; I suspect not though.
 
Ive seen the time release I think they were 300s though, and it was weird, like it had almost a hard outer shell and a softer more powdery inside, never saw anything like it before. If the 100s are the same as the 300s id say it would ruin the er properties, but who cares?
 
Thanks for taking the time to reply - i appreciate it:-) Im basically trying to wean myself off but dont have any 50 ir tablets so that is why im cutting them in half. Wish me luck:-)
