Cut ketamine

If anyone can suggest a good way of separating ketamine from DXM ( as if in buckleys tastes awful but it works) I would be eternally grateful. Please keep in mind that my forte is not chemistry so I may require layman terminology. Thanks in advance
 
I second the above two people, what the shit?

You could try an acid/base extraction but all that does is remove the syrup.
 
Yeah acid/base wont help you separate because the pKa of ketamine is 7.5 and for DMX its 8.25, seems to close so the would behave the same.
All separation is based on finding properties in which the compounds differ and use that variably/dynamically to separate.

I have checked some solubilities for different solvents but I cannot seem to find a property tjat would separate them, except of course molar mass and column affinity if it is chromatographed with a silica column
 
I suppose I should mention that the DXM is in powder form. As to why it's there I don't know but I imagine retardation is partly to blame. Thanks for the help

Suppose it were worth investing considerable resources, what would the difficulty level of such endeavors be?

The process of trying to separate the two would require a lot more money and effort than it would be to just purchase some more of one and/or the other.

I know how to remove cutting agents from cocaine or convert freebase cocaine into cocaine hydrochloride (which is actually a time consuming and takes a little bit of knowledge, but removing DXM from ketamine is beyond me.

I'm going to guess you didn't do this yourself and that it was probably a very shady individual rookie dealer not realizing you can't mix the two to stretch out your supply with that as a cutting agent because it's SO easily detectable. I thought it might be a good idea even just to mix them myself back in 97. MISTAKE. And I've been burned for a 20 bag... it took less than a second after insufflation to figure out.

So unless you're talking about a zips of ketamine, I would just give up and look for a new source.
 
You can try a crude water extraction. Ketamine salts are a lot more soluble than DXM.
Column chromatography is also an option if you have a lab.

Otherwise you need to find another source, pal.
 
Unfortunately the scene around here is not pretty, we are experiencing the longest drought I can recall. I represent a very large and established circle. You could say zips but kegs would be more appropriate. Fortunately nothing is paid until this is figured out but it sure would be nice. You guys are a great help. I hope some of you have heard of shambhala music festival? I get that most of you are from the U.K. But if you ever make it to Brittish Columbia check it out for sure
