I found and unopened bottle of Promethazine w/ cod 6 ounces, now the discard date reads 2004 lol, that's 10 years old, but its completely unoppened any tips? thanks in advance :D

tastes fine maybe a bit potent, but Im scared of bacterial shit ya'know?

Most of these formulations are in solutions that contain too much sugar or other osmotic pressure compounds that blow apart most bacteria, by design. Other microbes and sugar-phile microbes (a few exist) could be in there, but unopened and not cloudy, you're likely ok. Not sure? If it's worth it send a small bit to a micro lab. They'll test it for a $100 - $150... in the US. If the bottle wasn't deformed or pressurized that's a good sign too, many microbes create gases that would have pressurized the container. But then again, the solution in time might reabsorb those gases. See how difficult it is to guess from a distance? You're likely ok, but with out a qPCR or traditional platting of a little, well mixed material (1-mL should be enough for any lab) to test for for anaerobic and 'sugarphile' microbes is the only means of certainty I know of...

Odor is a good indicator but not very reliable - if it smells wretched never consume, it it smells fine that indicated nothing, could be loaded with something terrible, or not.

And also: while I think discussing whether drugs are still safe to take past their expiration typically falls within the realm of HR, in this situation we may only be able to speculate. If you're determined to take it though, I'll leave this open for now.

Not sure about the drug you have, but I remember a few years ago, when I was doing landscaping work, I was working for this older lady, got to talking about painkillers, she told me she had an old bottle of percocet, she was going to throw them out, but I convinced her to give them to me...this was 2008, the bottle of pills had been filled in 1996...so they were pretty damn old, at first I was worried about taking them, but decided to take 2 and see what happens, even though these pills were over 12 years old, they still worked just fine...got me feeling good, like a brand new percocet would have...I didnt notice any difference in them!

Yeah it should be ok if it looks ok. I know thats not really an indicator but damn it was unopened. .
