Hi, I'm new here, but have been reading posts for years and was wondering about something I may be getting myself into.

I'm currently 31, and have had a past issue with subtances, but have had no problem giving them up, up to and including cocaine.

I've recently developed a back problem a couple months ago and have been taking Vicodin 1, 2, 4 5/500mg at least 2 to 4 times a day, along with skelaxin 800 twice a day just so my back does not bother me. Some days I take up to 8 vic's just to stay below the 4g limit of apap because I sleep better. I'm starting to wonder once my script runs out if I'll be able to give it up as easy as I did coke. Anyone got any suggestions?

I'm just worried about developing an addiction to these things as I know opiates can be, I just want to be safe thats pretty much why I finally registered and posted.

Thanks for any information anyone can offer.

Hydro WD isn't that bad... but tapering would be best for your comfort. Also it depends on how long you've been taking the hydros!

Thanks for the info, I've been on a steady dose of them since August and wanting to finally stop getting refills. I get my new script tm and will just slowly lower it. I'm just curious if my back pain might be actually real or phantom, as I don't exactly follow instructions as I do have two herniated discs but still lift heavy objects all the time as my job does sometimes require it. Thanks for replying, I really didn't expect a reply so soon.

well i hate to tell u this but u will ABSOLUTLEY have way WAY more difficulty giving up opiates than u did coke u dont withdraw from coke physically like u do pills but even after thats gone your mind will really really mess with u. opiate addiction is the hardest thing in my opinion to give up and u have been taking them for 4 months now everyday not good. i wish u the best of luck but u have gotten yourself into a much harder thing to quit than anything u have done bfore my suggestion is to start tapering yourself down ad eventually stop but u r still going to have withdrawels physically and mentally. (i have been an opiate addict for 10 years now on mehtadone maitence) best of luck to you

I just wanted to come back and say that thankfully I've gotten through any kind of withdrawl, which I've personally did not have of experience. Thank you to the helpful few who did comment on my thread, I do sincerely feel bad for people who can not get through this. I am glad that I've been able to become addicted to some things, now if I can give up drinking I'll be free of all substances, but that is my last and only vice.
