Hey guys, Long time not chat! Sorry about that all, I have had a world wind of things occur recently which kept me kind of quiet. I kinda built a little wall for myself due to all the issues that are going on but being an ex-addict (is there really such a thing??) :) I know that building walls is the one thing I can not do as building walls, has always been one of my downfalls, and I am not about to let that happen anytime soon.

So just to bring you up-to-date about some of the things that have occurred, and please do not judge my stressors against your own as everyone deals differently with the cards they are given. :)

So these are just the biggies,

Mom was recently diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Thankfully they caught it very quickly! She has already had her surgery and they believe that they got it all. We are really thankful that it did not spread at least that we know of. She will have to go through radiation treatment but no Chemo at this point.

My birthday was on the 27th, and while I'm still alive, it was a tough birthday for me as I wasn't supposed to make it according to my Dr's. Sadly even after having gone though all the testing I have been though, the Dr's still can't tell me my prognosis. They still don't know or at least can't tell me yet if I need a transplant, and that is highly frustrating!

My disability (SSI/SSD) is on hold now do to the damndest situation... My Dr's who all know I have no money, all have told me I can not go back to work, yet they all have asked my lawyers for over $1000 to give them MY RECORDS!!!!!! Seriously?!!? They refuse to give them my records until they are paid, yet, I don't have the money to give them! So right now, everything is on hold until I can come up with literally almost $1000 :(

While all this went on this past month, I think I threw away my Fent Patches, mainly because I did not use them, and they were completely missing from my dresser, and the only reason I think I threw them out is because, my trash is right next to the dresser and they are gone, so where could they be? I dunno, but being with out them was absolutely MISERABLE!!!! I don't wish Fent withdraws on anyone! Having said that, both my Dr and I are happy I am now off of them because I always had nothing but problems while on them. The biggest problem I had was that my core body temperature always runs a little high, and this caused hell with my patches because these had the reservoir and with my increase body temp, the patches would only last about 2 days. Watson told me that this would be normal with my temp and they recommended that I just not use them anymore. This brings me to my post tonight....

I saw my pain mgt Dr today because of this problem and since I had basically gone through the fent withdraw with no help, just the little dilaudid that I had, my Dr suggested I go to a long acting dilaudid since I have had really good luck with dilaudid over the years, it's been the best med I have been on. Better then Oxi's or Roxi's.

So he put me on a med called Exalgo. He put me on 16mg, and upped my PO from dilaudid 2mg 120 a month to 4mg 120 a month and the 16mg Exalgo. So my question is, has anyone here taken Exalgo? Does anyone have any experience with it? I am just curious how it works and how well it works. Will it really last an entire day? Are there any evil sides to taking it? IE, one problem I have with Dilaudid, is constipation and sleep, though that can pretty much be the same side effects for just about every narcotic. So, I was just wondering if anyone has taken it could give me any ideas on how it works, how well it works, and what if anything I should watch out for. Keep in mind that I was on 50mcg Fentynal so as far as being on a high dose of dilaudid, I was already on a high dose of the Fent. Alot of people do not realize how much 50mcg's of Fent converts to in mg's of morphine, and to clarify that it is close to taking 230mg's of morphine per day.

So anyways, I hope yall are doing well, sorry it's been so long since I have written in and said hi. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks!

Exalgo is extended-release (XR/ER) hydromorphone. Dilaudid is hydromorphone instant release.

So, your Exalgo is just an extended-release version of Dilaudid.

Check out this resource for more information about this particular formulation of hydromorphone.

Hey NBT! Yeah I knew it was an extended release dilaudid, I just wasn't sure if the new formulation has any differences then the IR. I have been on other ER's where they have been completely different in the way they acted on the body then the IR's. I will definitely take a look at your link :) Thanks! Hows things been around here? It's been a couple months since I have even been in here to read up. Hope all has been well!

PS, lol thats the same link I already looked at. RXList is always the first place I go to read up on any medication :) Excellent minds think alike (or so they say!) :)

Does anyone know how, or understand how to read the table listed on this site that NBT was sharing? I understand the Fent conversion which is not in the table but listed below it, but I don't get the ratios as they have them listed in the table itself. I may just be tired, but it makes no sense to me...
