Hi! I have Meniere's disease and I've found almost no information about how my (very prolific) drug use might affect my condition, so I thought I'd ask: if anyone reading this has Meniere's or a similar balance/inner ear disorder, how have recreational drugs had an effect of your symptoms, if at all?
I'll go first: all I've found online is that nicotine and alcohol can trigger attacks of vertigo, which I haven't found to be true for me so far. No mention of other drugs from what I've seen but through trial and error, so to speak, I've found that the only thing that noticeably makes symptoms worse is MXE—usually it's totally fine, but if I use within a few days after having an attack it can trigger another one. Opiates worried me because they made my ears feel weird before I ever had Meniere's, but now a tiny bump of H can actually help me sleep if dizziness or anxiety keeps me up at night. And smoking weed makes me nauseous during an attack, but edibles are also a great way to get to sleep, and they get rid of the crazy nausea that can happen with Meniere's!
