Their beats are pretty great, and on CD Alice Glass isnt so bad, but listening to them live made me want to cut my ears off and for that, ill probably never listen to them again.

Plus they're the epitome of hipster now. Their shows are like hipster conventions

If you like Aphex Twin though I suggest listen to Amon Tobin. Some real wonky music there.

I'm sorry, but I have to completely disagree that CC is the epitome of hipster. It's funny to even say the "epitome of hipster". There really can't be anything that is the epitome for very long, and CC is not really the epitome anyone. I think they were for a while, then they became popular, more mainstream, and old. They're not fresh anymore.

And what about their theft of chiptune artists?

I saw them live and enjoyed it enough... there was good vibe in the crowd though. Otherwise.... no thanks.
 
they have that heavily produced sound. coz he's an ace producer. so their albums are just so clean, buts its a noisy-clean. the chaotic layers sit just right. i love it. though it means their live sets struggle to get their sound
 
Their new album just leaked a couple days ago. I was a big fan of the first album, but I think this one is wayyy better. It is still raw like the first album but at the same time very lush, using a lot of different sounds not just the 8 bit thing. Alice also sings on a bunch of songs instead of just yelling. IMO a big step forward for them
 
solid follow up. dope beats which is the main reason i listen to cc but her singing on a the songs sounds good. sound basically stayed the same as first album. celestica could pass for some euro vocal club. empathy. pap smear are the type of songs i like. nothing mind blowing but ill gladly listen to this from time to time.
 
The argument of P2P being acceptable because there is no money involved is weaksauce. Its either illegal or its not. There's no middle ground. Also, mainstream? What is this junior high? Musicians rip ideas off of other people

I heard the same thign from my buddy, waiting to give it a listen.
 
I caught a broken drum stick in the crowd whilst seeeing CC. I was rolling, just zoning out after the set, the drummer through something, and I was all like, i'll catch that, and bam, it took me about 10sec to relize what happened.

Then I was like I have caught the CC drum stick. Was pretty magical, and it lives on my desk at home, but their set was OK, but nothing amazing.
 
I enjoy listening to CC when I want to get stuff off my mind. They do a good job at helping you get lost in their music for a little while due to the uniqueness and various subliminal sounds (these subliminal sounds are easily heard on shrooms ;D
 
seems like everyone thinks they would suck live? well i saw them at lolla last year and it was sick ASS. the energy in the crowd was pure awesome. i could say more....

also they are in no way similar to Ratatat (who i also think are awesome) why all the comparisons?
