I have a question. I'm not really sure how exactly to search for this information so i'll ask the people on this forum as the information here has enlightened and helped me many times.

If you are addicted to methadone (which i am) and you take something weak like tramadol to combat the symptoms, are you still expelling the methadone from your system? Is it just keeping the problem the same?

I'm coming off taking about 40mg of methadone a day, dosage varying frequently for about 3 months as i was getting it on the street. I was doing Opana IR's IV and Heroin prior to that and was getting pretty hooked.. I took some tramadol to help the symptoms. It helped...a lot. But all the tramadol is gone already...

I guess the real question is do all opiates work with each other to make you the twitchy aggressive and hollow drug addict you eventually become? Can it be said that any kind of replacement therapy is any good?

BTW I think replacement therapy (especially with methadone) is very bad because methadone is listed as THE MOST ADDICTIVE opiate. I don't know if i regret having started taking it...I do now but man did it get me high initially..

I don't know where i stand right now...i'm trying to get off but it seems doubtful.

You ask some good questions.

I would think that it is possible to quit using though, it just takes will power and determination.

Not all opiates lead you down the same road, it's just that some people are inevitably going to take it there with the good opiates if they get the supply and ability to use it the way they want to and find addictive.

Replacement therapy IS GOOD! I have been on Suboxone for a while now and I don't have any cravings for heroin or full agonist opiates. :) I know other people who swear that methadone has changed their life a full 180° around.

Have you considered going to a methadone clinic? Can you afford it, or no?

I have considered it and really i don't want to.
Also i cannot afford it.
Also my family would be furious to find out i've relapsed for the fifth time that they know of...

That didnt really answer my question though. I want to know if the opiates all lead to the exact same syndrome of withdrawal or if they are different. IE: I take oxycotin and heroin so i am addicted to both, not just addicted to "opiates".

Honestly it doesn't matter right now. I just made up with my methadone friend so he'll help me out tomorrow..
I still want to know so when i finally do have the determination to stop taking all of this garbage...sweet...sweet garbage.....i'll be better informed

And yes i was on suboxone and managed to stay clean for two years...but now even just the thought of the taste of those bitter orange pills makes me wanna throw up.. I guess i just take issue with methadone because now, through first hand experience, i realize that the withdrawal is even worse than coming off the white heroin...bundles of it

and the suboxone i basically just stopped completely...with no small amount of help from marijuana

Well if you just ride it out you will be fine then. Stay positive, and read up on stuff you can do to mitigate the withdrawal symptoms by reading up about it in Other Drugs. :)

There's also a lot of great social support in The Dark Side as well. Just make sure to read the forum guidelines in a sub-forum before posting just to make sure you know the rules fairly well.

Actually i've read a LOT of this forum already and learned a lot about alleviating them without actual opiates from this forum.
Its still not the same...
But my friend finally took pity on me so i think i'm stuck with the methadone for a while. Its way too cold to go the whole winter without something to keep me warm and asleep..
I have to be more prepared when detox time comes.
And methadone is much safer than what i was doing. Shooting pills is unsafe no matter what and heroin is full of bullshit half the time. At least with the meth i don't have tracks or share needles with people anymore..
