cross tolerance between tramadol and hydro/oxycodone

I did some searches but never found the exact info I was looking for. My question is simple, any cross tolerance between tramadol and other opiates? In the past, when on tramadol, if I took hydrocodone I would not get very much of anything from it. So I think there is some cross tolerance. I am sure it differs with different people. Is there a resource that can tell you that if you take a certain amout of tramadol, you would need this amount of hydrocodone or oxycodone?

im not sure why combining tramadol and hydro didnt work well, do they work well separately?
im not an expert on this or anything but as i understand it tramadol is a pretty weak agonist of opioid receptors, meaning that it shouldnt have a huge effect on your tolerance to hydro or oxy.

I have ample experience with both. I love each one- for different reasons. Tramadol's high isn't so "pronounced"- it's more of a cloud of calm and a tinge of euphoria (for me at least- then again i am super sensitive to substances of all types).

I have used each to replace the other- some months I would take Trammy and other months hydrocodone...I would say that there is some cross-tolerance but because the types of "buzz" you get are so different, it's hard to really gauge.

I will say this- you can use one to get get off another.

My last run with Tramadol, I was taking 4 or 5 a day..NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Tramadol not only has a certain affinity for the mu receptor (not nearly as much as hydrocodone though) but it also affects serotonin. This is what makes it a double-edged sword.

I immediately took hydrocodone to soften the sudden stoppage of the Tramadol.

But to get to the point- yes there is some cross tolerance, but how much of it you will actually FEEL is quite subjective, IMO&E.

My intake is 26 to 28 a day. These are the 50 mg's, and yes I know the danger and absurdity of it, but tolerance is a bitch after 10 years of being on it. I know some people get either one to potentiate the other, but I have never "felt" it when taking both.

Reason I asked was anticipation of having to go to the ER for some acute pain in my right hip, very acute PAIN!

I just got back from the hospital and found out that the hip pain was actually back pain, specifically sciatica, something I've never had before. So I was prescribed Vicoden 5/500, motrin 800 mg, and Flexiril. The hydro, along with the flexiril may help, but I'm thinking the flexril and tramadol may do better. Though I have never taken this combo before it seems I have read that the flexiril will potentiate the tramadol.
Anyone have any info on this?

four or five trams a day is really not that much. not trying to be a dick or start a dick sizing pissing contest. im not sure if 26 to 28 is a great idea lol. im pretty sure you're literally frying your brain. 8 to 10 of the 50mg is a great dose. and yes i have used trams when i ran out of everything and believe me it works like a charm. not sure how it does that because it is a very weak partial agonist. its all a mystery of the mind

I started on perc/oxy 10/325 a couple weeks ago, and prior to that, 5mg oxy. During this time my tram consumption has gone way down, 8 to 12 a day. But I can now feel both drugs.
