Grit weed in US

Weed I've just acquired crackled when lit. I took a single small hit. The effects are decent, considering the small quantity. However, in addition to the crackling, the weed is quite hairy and dark green in some parts, light in others. It definitely is not the headies/chronic/(whatever jargon is used in your area to mean "highest quality bud") that the dealer claimed it to be.

It is coated in fine glittery particles that, upon close examination, do not appear to be trichromes. Is it likely that I (on the East Coast of the US) am in possession of gritweed? If so, are the gritty adulterants likely to be harmful just if inhaled as part of smoke, or do they also place cooking with the weed out of the question?

UPDATE

I just crumbled the weed between my fingers and it HURT! Felt like my skin was being pierced by multiple splinters! Also, my fingers were CLEARLY dusted with tiny little iridiscent fascets as well as slightly larger bead-like particles afterward. The stinging from breaking the weed up is what settles it in my ind. I've NEVER noticed anything like that before

The nuggets before I broke them up:

I tried to take a picture of my fingers with the grit all over them but couldn't get a good one.

Done with this dealer, and not going to smoke this weed. Could my digestive system handle this crap without likely adverse effects? I'd hate to waste all my money, but there's no question of smoking it anymore.

Sounds like gritweed, so it's no good to smoke. I'm not sure about making food with it since I don't know what's on it, but seeing as it hurt your fingers to break it, I'd say that it's not suitable for edibles. Seems like grit weed's been showing up recently on the east coast, it's a damn shame.

I doubt you got grit weed as that is pretty damn rare on the east coast, but from what you describing, sounds like a shitty grower spraying with something shitty. Would not smoke, vape, or cook.

Beyond that, we can't really help you, as we don't do ID threads here at BL. If we can't smoke and hold it, we can't give you a definitive answer. I do suggest that you do not smoke it if you suspect it is laced, especially if you feel it was covered in something with a consistency of sand or glass or even humidity beads. I'd just cut your losses, it's part of dealing with the black market. If you bought a bunch, see if your connect will refund whatever you haven't smoked.
