Bring water with you? Say they do let you back into the crowd, if you're in the front, you won't want to leave either. Last time I was at a show where I was all the way in the front and wouldn't leave for anything in the world, I had water with me. Drank all over the course of the show, and it was awesome.
well say you've just got to the dance floor, and didn't bring any with you...then where do you stand? i mean, smarter people will definitely take water/safety vs being the in the front BUT there is always a small group of people that don't make the right decisions...its not as easy as you think.
it sucks that a few idiots ruin it for everyone else. other then the deaths/arrests, the music was mind blowing.
I'd assume there are two primary reasons they don't allow you to bring your own water bottles:
A) they'd lose money on their own sales.
B) some people would put alcohol in their bottles so it becomes a security/MIP issue. (Although I honestly think it's a stupid reason considering the amount of drugs that get smuggled into these events. 1 pill is easier to hide than one drink haha)
At some of the events I've been to in Portland, they have water coolers that someone is constantly refilling with big jugs of water so once you've bought your bottle for $2, then you can refill it for free! It's fantastic!
In Seattle, many events will let you bring in either sealed water bottles or empty water bottles. And I've never been to an event that I paid more than $2 for water. Plus, the tap water in the city is very drinkable so a quick run to the bathroom whenever your bottle is empty is very doable.
Yeah I can totally understand the sealed/empty bottles thing, that makes a lot of sense to allow it that way.
Unfortunately, not all promoters and companies see it the same way which is why tragic things like this happen. It's unfortunate to see something like this happen all to put a few extra dollars in someone's pocket. Water is a necessity of life, it should be free. At $15-$30 a rave ticket, I think they can suck it up with the water thing. Just my 2cents.
Were there confirmed bad pills going around or was the cause of the deaths/hospitalizations just heat?
Lol yea i guess, On this side of the country this type of thing isn't run by gangs....
You have a bunch of ravers/psytrance kids and then you have some thuggish looking gangsta people walking around trying to sell drugs....
I could buy some drugs from some bad ass hippie giving me blotter laid in the hundreds of micrograms or i could buy some sketchy beans or something from some thugish lookin gangsta that stands out more than any undercover in the building.
I don't like to consider myself racist, im dating a girl who is half black, so that has to say somthing. Just about everyone i have ever known that has had anything fucked up go down in a drug deal happened when they were dealing with thugish black people. One guy got his head blown off, a friend of mine was robbed at gunpoint at 3pm in his own house, friend had more molly jacked than i care to give numbers for but it was a lot, someone else was implicated in a murder investigation.
These people are only there because they have found people who will buy from them. If the collective group decided just to not buy from these people it wouldn't happen.
This kind of shit never seems to happen when your dealing with people who associate more with the hippie/raver/psytrance/burner crowds..... It happens because people allow it to happen, get people to stop buying from people who are not part of this scene at all....
It would really be nice if they would :
1.Put an 18+ Cap on all Skillz, Insomniac, and GoVentures massives
2.Provided a fixed price for water under $3
3.Put an official cap on the number of attendees to prevent over-crowding
4.Require all attendees to carry a form of ID at all times for security purposes
This is what has to happen if the Rave scene is to survive negative media and powerful legislation. I rapidly see a lifestyle that is become more mainstream and much more crowded. Eventually it will receive more attention then it wanted and demonized by congress.
The promoters are greedy and reaping profits off these events. I really dont want to see them come to an end, but money does evil things to people..Right now I only seem Insomniac coming out with there version of a credit card:
![]()
"The Insomniac Card, allowing you to beat lines by prepaying for everything you will need for a night of raving. When the nights up, you can keep the money on your card for the next rave you attend"
My friend got one and when she tried to get them money loaded off it at the end of the night they wouldnt let her. These promoters just want money and are trying to create a steady flow of revenue off exploiting what once use to be a pure thing.
Now its just another Industry. The Industry of Subversion and Distracting our youth.
