Recently I took a moderate dose of 25c-NBOMe ( approx 1.5 x 350 ug HPBCD complexed blotters from online retailer). I have had two experiences with the RC from the same strip at a slightly lower dose and had no problems. About 6 weeks ago I upped my fluoxentine (prozac) dose from 20mg to 40mg daily. I had a good week before the trip and thought the weekend would be the perfect time to take some 25c-NBOMe. I had a trip sitter who stayed with me for the duration.

After 20 minutes of dosing I was tripping quite hard with strong visuals and a bit of confusion, feeling very happy and fairly relaxed. But apart from the first 30 mins or so, my recollection of events is very blurry and so I have had to rely on my sitter to give an accurate account of what exactly happened. The trip seemed to have periods of time that stretched on for a very long time, and my chronology of the events that took place is very jumbled when compared to my sitters account. After one hour I was very unresponsive and couldn't respond or communicate to questions. I was stuck in a thought loop for ages and couldn't break out of it. At this point I had no idea who or where I was, although I can remember my room was completely transformed, with the trees outside my window morphing with a kaleidoscope of colours spinning everywhere.

When I started to peak I started having crazy thoughts. I thought I had to suffer for humanity and sacrifice myself. I felt myself being sliced apart and my jaw breaking off and being sent into space. My sitter tried to comfort me but I was screaming in pain as I was being ripped apart and dragged through hell. I didn't try and resist the trip I just went with it as best as I could. My sitter went out of the room for a minute to call somebody to help, At that point I started thrashing about and destroying stuff in my room, I was lucky not to have hurt myself.

I started to look for the solution to the universe and began ripping pages out of books. There were some positive calm periods when I was in heaven or someplace. At one point I thought my sitter was the devil who was trying to kill me to stop me saving the universe. According to my sitter I was just babbling non-sense and looking completely vacant. My sitter was very concerned about me but some how refrained from calling an ambulance (I was shaking a lot). My sitter was great, without him I would have certainly done much more harm to myself, he did everything right and tried changing the environment, lighting and music and moved me into different rooms as well as being generally comforting. (I just have a few cuts and bruises). However I wasn’t really aware that he was even there. Eventually about 5 hours into the trip I either fell asleep or passed out on the sofa. When I woke up, I was very confused and wasn’t sure what day it was, I was unaware that I was the one who had broken all of the stuff in my room.

I want to know if anyone else has had similar experiences with SSRI's and psychedelics (NBOMe in particular). I cannot see how I had such a strong overwhelming trip of such a low dose. What are peoples thoughts on this? I had taken all the necessary precautions (sitter, comfortable setting, good frame of mind) but still managed to have a terrible trip.

Thanks for reading.

From recent discussions I glean that SSRI interactions are complex matters which people have varied opinions on. Opinions based often on a specific SSRI medication, so that generalized claims are made about the entire category of medications. I have heard about unwanted reactions from psychedelics and SSRI's but found it extremely hard to find commonalities.

Anyway I have no idea if what happened to you was a result of increased Prozac dosage or something else. If it was something your brain was still getting accustomed to, I guess that couldn't have helped.

In general, you don't want to take psychedelics (especially ones as new to the world as the nBOME series) while taking any other medications. I'm sorry this happened to you. As Solipsis said, it's hard to say definitively if the SSRI caused this problem, but I would lay off the recreational drugs for a while at least.

I'm sorry you had such a bad time. This part of the trip, where you experienced your body being dismembered, really jumped out at me, because it's a common motif that can occur during any psychedelic trip. Similar kinds of experiences happen to indigenous shamans who report that they have encountered spirits who cut up their spirit body into pieces and then put them back together again, and in those cultures it's seen as a kind of spiritual healing. Also there is the Tibetan practice of chöd where you visualize chopping off parts of your body and feeding them to a demoness. So there may be a deeper psychological or spiritual meaning behind this experience you had, beyond just overdosing on drugs.
