I'm still new here, and new to any kind of forum/community where drugs are openly talked about. So, you'll have to forgive my inexperience/lack of knowledge/information, and even lack of understanding for the different lingos and meanings of words on here :/ Ok, anyways.....For the last 3 years or so, my DOC (I do know that abbrev!) has been narcotics, specifically lortabs &/or percocets. It's progressed into a daily habit now. I have to have something to have a "normal" feeling. Use to, 2-3 10's were enough to feel great for several hours. I'm to the point now where I have to take at least 8 10's at one time and 10 or more if all I have are 5mg tabs. Last week I was able to get oxycodones for several days in a row. Now that they are no longer available, I'm back to what I was use to, only what I use to take does absolutely nothing for me. I know it's very unsafe to take the amounts that I do, I do think about that. But could I have changed the effect I get from the tabs because I went to something stronger for several days?

Yes it's possible you've raised your tolerance by taking the oxycodone. The active ingredients in Percocet is oxycodone and acetaminophen so if you were taking more oxycodone than the amount in your Percocets your tolerance will have raised. You need to worry more about your acetaminophen intake. Taking 10 5/500 pills at a time is so bad for you. You could get irreversible liver damage and/or die a slow, painful death. IMHO you need to learn cold water extraction or quit now, or switch to pills with no acetaminophen.

There is a big thread about cold water extraction and you should also do a search on acetaminophen poisoning. I'm not judging you, I have a very bad opiate dependance myself, for which I am now prescribed Suboxone, but IMHO you need to take a serious look at your acetaminophen intake.

Yeah, that's been a big concern of mine lately. And I appreciate the information and advice! I've never heard of the water extraction, but I will def go take a look at it. No one knows about my dependency so I pretty much have to find information on my own :/ thanks so much!

^Yes, definitely if you are taking that much Lortab/Percocet you should be doing a cold water extraction (CWE). Please start doing this to remove as much APAP as you can immediately, and like hemdroids said, a liver panel test would be advisable. 10 x 5mg Lortab would have 5000mg of acetaminophen (APAP), and it is considered dangerous to take more than 3000mg APAP in a 24 hr period. And even that much is really not good to be taking on a regular basis. Or if you meant 10 x 5mg Percocet, that would still have 3250mg of APAP.

As Hobble mentioned, the active ingredient in Percocet is oxycodone (Lortab is hydrocodone), but if you were taking more oxycodone than you usually take yes you could have raised your tolerance. You didn't mention how many mg oxycodone were in the oxycodone pills you took or how many you'd been taking. But I would assume that's probably the problem.
