cotton shots

Hey,

First off, hi, I am Elle. I am new to these discussion boards. I am 24 yrs old, and in the New England-ish area.


i was wondering if other people do cotton shots? i am sure they do... but... more specifically...

Ever have complications following a cotton shot? Maybe from bacteria growing on the cotton? (Luckily i have not had this problem....but i was curious, bc i am kind of a germophobe. Oh the irony).

Also, do you get high when you do a cotton shot? how many cottons do you use at once ? Can you use the cottons a third time?

Sometimes i take to reusing the same cottons up to 4x. It feels grimmey - but ....yeah, i am an addict :o

Do you think anything remotely resembling heroin is coming out of that cotton on even the 3rd time i try it?

And i have no other junkie friends.......... i have been using the same dull pin for-ev-er. It is bound to break soon. I wish i knew where to get them? or how to keep the ones you have, longer?

There's a few threads out there if you use the search engine.

About finding a new needle, you could try using the net to order some or maybe some BL'ers who also live in PA could point you in the right direction. Try doing a search for sources for needles here on BL and there should be a few threads, we allow discussion of where to find them as they are a harm reduction tool.

if u are anywhere near Mass u can buy pins at cvs or walgreens. just ask for insulin needles at the pharmacy counter. 10 pack for 3$ and all u need is an ID. they sell them over the counter to anyone and everyone that needs em.

I never filtered w/ cottons...so I can't answer your first question. I think the best answer would still to be just to throw them out after their first use, it's not worth it to get an infection this way. It's not worth your health.

A little sobering up can be good for a person, there's no need to perpetuate heroin use to this degree.

and PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD get some more pins. Pharmacists shouldn't give you a hard time depending on where you live, but they can be. It depends on the state law, what state do you live in, let me guess, New Jersey?

Order from an online vendor as long as your state laws don't require you to have a prescription.

I live in a state that has NONE. And live around a lot of other states that have none.
 
If you're ultra desperate to re-use cotton and feel "well" (but not get high) you could always soak the cotton in hot water, squeeze said water out, and snort the water through a tube. It won't get you high (but then, I doubt a cotton shot would either), but it will keep away the withdrawals and its much safer than re-using cottons and needles to the point that you are proposing. I used to do this when I couldn't find any dope for a couple days, and it worked fine, plus there's no risk of the dread pirate Cotton Fever.
 
^that kind of reminds me of how a lot of daily users i've met along my travels always save their cottons if they've mixed up in a zip lock bag or use the spoon and then put them bunched together in a baggie for use later. i've always heard the excuse "it's for later when i dont have anything left and i've got the dreggs of those". it doesnt make sense to me. why mix up too much in the first place?

and the thing with using cottons on pills like morphine is that a good amount of the drug is left in the cotton after drawing it up. i've always used as little as water as possible with the first mix and then added more water and washed out the cotton into the first shot again which leaves no reason at all to hold onto the cotton.

no cotton is safe or smart to hold onto.
 
^I see your point, but all I'm saying is that snorting the water from re-washed cotton is safer than IVing it. It will get you well enough to function...and functioning safely is a million times better than getting high with resulting cotton fever.

oh for sure, man i agree totally. i was stupid enough to save cottons at one small period and ran the guantlet and of course i got stung eventually. as soon as i'm finished mixing a shot the cotton goes straight in the bin now.

you've got to be careful with what you think are sterile cottons as well. there's no room for this "oh we'll just use a cigarette filter" because it's just as possible to get cotton fever that way too.
 
Only cotton shot i got high from was last weekend and they were good fat ass bags i prob had about 15 cottons squished them all together added a half cc of water or little more than cooked the shit out of them . place new cotton on top and suck back ... before what i would do is just cook them then squeeze all the juice out into the spoon and use a new cotton but idk if that even worked this one seemed to do a lil more. Not like a actual shot tho...

For the love of rainbows please get yourself some new ones and really, only use them once.

Someone get that pic of the rigs before use and then after 1 and 4 uses or whatever it is.

I am 2 hours from Philly - if that is where the SEP is located?? I am almost positive there is none in my area.

However, I frequently travel to NY/NJ - and so i am glad to know i can go in any pharmacy and ask for a bag of insulin needles. I wish i knew this before. But great to know now! :)

And of all the years I have done cotton shots, I only once got cotton fever. Not saying once isn't enough. I mean, it only lasted an hour or two, and I slept through most of it - bc I was still high... but it was kind of scary.

God, I wish I have not been taking subs these last 24 hours - i freaking cannot stand being on them. I still have hot/cold sweats!!!!! How can this happen?! Grrrrr. lol

Oh, and cops in my area LOVE to bust people for ANYTHING. They are such hardasses on users of any kind, but when a real problem comes up - they are no where to be found.

A shooting downtown? Not one cop car. A junkie trying to score? 3 cop cars and 10 officers. They're pathetic.

I would like to see the picture though. The few people I have known who used in this area all use their pins until they are broken or look like monstrosities.

Using condom lubricant to keep the plunger working, crazy gluing pieces back on... I swear. it's crazy.

For most questions you shouldn't have to search the archives, just search the main forum. For example, above the list of threads in OD there should be a search function. You can use that or the advanced search, and if you don't get the results you want right away try again with different words.
