Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Led Zep, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, various mix tapes from the fuckin 60s, these are what i was subjected to as a kid on car trips.
AND I LOVED IT. I still love all those bands and singers. I was born in the mid 70s and luckily the old's werent into the hits of the day. But we were also subjected to the likes of Gove Scrivenor (not too bad in retrospect) and my uncles folk band which I wont mention for fear of incrimination, but let me say I HATE THE VIOLIN AND CANADIAN ACCENTS IN FOLK BANDS yee haw!! Bands like that had me sunk low in the back seat, tho I do have a soft spot for certain offcentre folk type bands now I must admit.
Dear ol' dad also tried to inflict classical music on us, but the only ones I appreciated as a kid were Ravel's Bolero, Beethoven's 5th, and the ride of the valkyries.
I played the ramones to my nephew recently when he was about 1, and he started headbanging, apparantly he's never been tought this manouvre. I'm a proud aunt of a young bogan!!
It's fun corrupting the young. I was corrupted by rockin tales from drug takin lowlifes, and i'm subtley continuing the cycle with my 2 nephews. Hell, I turned out ok.
