Police told Jacksonville's Channel 4 that the couple was growing illegal drugs in their 7-year-old's bedroom. According to the police report, when authorities discovered the hallucinogens, the boy told his mother, "Well mom, the police found them."

An anonymous tip led investigators to the home. Cops found several budding magic mushrooms.

According to the police, the boy said his dad goes into his room to check the temperature of the mushrooms and that his mom knows about them, but only watches the dad check on them, reports News4Jax.com.

you can be sure that this child will be scarred emotionally by the cops interrogation forcing him to rat his parents .
there should have been an advocate, a social worker of some description there to stop the pigs from shaking down an child .

Thats pretty god damned fucked up! I don't think parent should refrain from drug use all together but growing a powerful hallucinogen in a 7 year olds room is so beyond responsible it isn't funny!

wtf is wrong with people? why put a child in that position? don't they have their own fucking closet? from pics i've seen shrooms don't take that much room to grow

What's wrong with growing shrooms in a kid's closet? Even if he were to eat him, they can't harm him. I assume his parents told him not to eat them, and I assume the parents had a lock on the door...

Hahahah the choicest quote in that video...

"No child should have to grow up in an environment where there are illegal drugs being grown just a few feet away." Apparently every cow farmer whose farm has Psilocybe cubensis naturally growing on it is a child abuser. Same with every parent who lives in the forests of Oregon or Washington where a number of potent psilocybin-containing mushrooms grow naturally everywhere. Hell, the Jacksonville, FL area is one of the choicest locales for P. cubensis naturally... they could have been growing nearby outside at the same time as in his closet.

What a fucking idiot.

^^dude, with the current state of legality, growing drugs in your house (when you have kids)...not to mention your child's closet...is completely irresponsible.

What, they NEEDED shrooms so badly that they couldn't come up with a different place to grow or buy them? These people are idiots.

These fools fucking live in Florida..... THE SHROOM STATE trust me i know i made some runs, with garbage bags and dodging salt shoots from a couple rednecks.....

Why pick it and not grow it..... Not all places "coat the grass to kill it" i recommend organic farms....

The idiots are the anonymous tipsters who knowingly called the cops on parents for growing fucking natural fungi in a closet. There's no reason for the police to be able to look in the closets of their home.

Regardless of the current state of the law, people should do what is right, not what's legal.

.
Regardless of the current state of the law, people should do what is right, not what's legal.

It takes a rare individual to live like that, turning a blind eye to the law to live entirely in accordance with what they judge to be right.

Half of those turn into vigilante killers, and the other half are enlightened sages.

I would have thought the shrooms would need more light than is obtainable inside a closet to grow. I can see the devious side of growing drugs in the last place you'd expect but shit, if one of that kid's mates came over, it's the kind of thing that would catch their eye if they happened to look in his wardrobe. I don't think the said child would be allowed many sleep-over mates if someone came home obviously out of their mind on tasty fruits.

True point, but what are the odds of a kid sticking their hand in a cow dump and eating a mushroom out of it... they'd probably eat up dead from liver dysfunction instead. Same with a woodland mushroom, you'd tell your kids like any responsible parent the law of the jungle states don't eat wild poisonous toadstools or your tummy will hurt and your poop will slide out... paint a picture with turds. Cultivated mushrooms are obviously intended for consumption.

It gets depressing reading bad news all the time. The world is a real nazi shithole. Time to smoke another bowl and think about the good ol' days when nobody paid any mind to what you put in your pipe. The 1890s would have interesting.
