Cops confiscate a massive joint during 4/20 celebration

A recent video that was posted online shows authorities at the University of California, Santa Cruz campus confiscating what is said to be a 2-pound marijuana joint on Saturday. According to a report from KTVU on April 21, the incident happened on April 20, or 4/20, which is a day to identify oneself with the marijuana subculture.

The video shows a cop carrying the huge joint, while dozens of students walked alongside them.

“Oh dude, we’re going to court, man; we’re totally going to court,” one of the students said.

The video sharing site Liveleak.com reported that police took the joint because it violated the legal limit for carrying pot, which is one ounce.

Chief of Police Nadar Oweis told media sources: ”It’s not that we don’t want to shut it down, but it’s tougher because we have limited resources and the high cost it would take to completely stop the event, is not something we have right now.”

He also stated that it would be more costly to shut it down rather than to keep it going.

I'm sure it probably seemed like a good idea at the time. Someone left the celebration 2 lbs lighter. Yikes.

I'm wondering what they're going to claim... that four or more people threw in legal amounts and that is how they rolled a 2 pound joint, and they were all going to share it? I was estimating at least 4 based on the "legal maximum" of cannabis in my state, that being 8 oz (half a pound).

It's definitely more realistic that 30+ people threw down though when you think about the logistics of a 2 pound joint. %)

When I've gone to the hash bar in the past this year, people were having the bud tender roll huge ass joints; larger than I've ever seen smoked outside of the hash bar.
