coping with hangovers (alcohol)

Ronjones beat me to it. Yeah, a tab of at least 7.5 mg Hydrocodone (preferably something stronger) will fix that splitting headache. Drink at least 44 oz of water, and pop a couple of multivitamins. And don't forget T(otal) H(angover)C(ure). Fatty bong rips do wonders for hangover associated malaise and stomach problems.

I woke up this morning feeling like dying (literally). I've now taken 4mg of xanor (xanax in europe), 10mg valium and 40mg of propranolol. All these tranqs and i'm just starting to feel bearable to exist.
A proper hangover is IMHO much, much worse than a comedown from a meth binge...
Now i need just some greasy junk food (pizza's are great!) to make my life worth living again.
Stay away from tequila folks!

and this is fun? this is exactly why i quit drinking. not to flame, but i dont find this, in any way, fun. plus drinking gave me the worst hangovers ever. i would get anxiety, paranoid, shakes, upset stomach, couldnt eat, and many other sides adter a night of heavy drinking.
i havent been drunk in about a year. what i found to help my hangovers was water. i would drink a big glass of water the night before. man just taklking about it, reminds me of how awful they were. it took about 4 days for me to start to feel normal again. its nice not drinking, i dont miss it one bit.

I'm sorry but I've got to say that all you people who just can't deal with an alcohol hangover are pussies.
There, I said it, that's right, I said it, pussies.
I remember when my uncle (6 ft, 200 lb) went to a bar one night and got absolutely shitfaced (at least 20+ drinks). And on the way home, he stopped at a store and bought a 6 pack of beer. He got back to his house, was so drunk that he could barely talk, and sat on the couch and drank his 6 pack. When he finished it, he got up and went to bed. He was so sick and hungover afterwards that he had to call in sick to his job for the next FOUR days. He puked each of those days, had to just lay in bed the whole time, and felt like utter shit. But after four days, he got up, went to work, and moved on it. Was it a terrible hangover? Yes! Did he whine about it and try to find drugs to take the edge off? No!
In case you missed the point, if you have to have other drugs the day after drinking just to cope with the hangover, then you obviously aren't getting much enjoyment out of alcohol. You should just move on and find a drug that you can tolerate by itself. Or you can keep drinking if you want to, but quit WHINING about how BAD the hangover is.

Alcohol is a filthy drug. I can barely even stand to have a beer in a social setting. I think that it is the fact that I used to get hammered on a regular basis and get horrible hangovers. Now I just dislike the feeling of alcohol intoxication. Prolly related to me love of the opiates. Speaking of which, sometimes a few tabs of some opiate, my favorite being percs, usually took care of my hangovers. Not sure if it's very good for the liver though/

Hangovers are fucking evil, about the only thing I can think that combats them decently is a lot of fruit juice, and the strongest opiates you can get your grubby little hands on.
I'd like to jump onto the bandwagon that hangovers are worse than a meth comedown. While the meth comedown will fuck with your emotions, make you depressed and just feel like a listless, aggro piece of shit, the hangover feels like a terminal disease if you do it right.
So yeah.

Wrong. Alcohol and Tylenol (Acetaminophen) are a bad combination because together they can cause liver damage, but NSAIDS such as aspirin and ibuprofen are both fine to take with alcohol.
Wrong. In the non-alcoholic person (one who doesn't drink large amounts regularly), Tylenol + Alcohol is only a minor concern. An alcoholic, on the other hand, is highly susceptible to liver damage from tylenol because chronic drinking depletes the liver's stores of gluthianone. A small amount of tylenol is converted into a very toxic substance in the body (for anyone who takes it). However, non-alcoholics have plenty of gluthianone to convert the toxic metabolite into something that isn't toxic. Alcoholics are lacking in the enzyme so the toxic metabolite of tylenol remains in the liver long enough to start causing hepatic damage. If you are concerned, you can take N-acetylcysteine (go to GNC) daily and your gluthianone stores won't get so depleted. BTW, N-acetylcysteine is the specific antidote used to treat tylenol-induced hepatotoxicity.
The interaction between alcohol and NSAID's is of greater concern than alcohol + tylenol in non-alcoholics. NSAID's carry a substantial risk of GI bleeding by themselves. Alcohol acts to further irritate the stomach as well as thin the blood which makes GI bleeding more likely and more severe.
So...
1) Alcohol + Tylenol (Alcoholic person)-Most risky combination
2) Alcohol + NSAID's (Any person)-Moderately risky
3) Alcohol + Tylenol (Non-alcoholic person)-Minimally risky

for my hang-overs, in the moring i take advil and multi-vitamin, and drink lots of water

*hopes no one takes him too seriously when he does a quick evaluation of thread so far*
Lots of controversy, lots of careful reading and "quoting back", good mix of newbies and long-timers, love the fact all the Lushes come out t_o play when we discuss 'hangover cures' and the like...
Does BL need a new forum: "Regional Booze Discussion"?
I reckon so...and for the record I think a 7.2 on the Richter scale hangover (in other words "I have had five showers and i'm still dirty") hangover is much worse than a chemically induced bout of unpleasantness.

Cant beleive no-one has said it yet: HEROIN.
Every heroin addict I know does not drink at all.
Obviously there are ppl on this board that can do smack and still drink, which I find is very rare.
Either way, I wouldn't suggest to anyone to use heroin as a cure for hangovers, ESPECIALLY if they've never done heroin before. Thats more than a little dangerous IMO.
Also-to those of you who mix heroin and alcohol-PLEASE be careful!!! This is not the best combo as alchol increases the chances of overdose when mixed with heroin. I shouldn't have to say that it's best to do a little research before mixing any drugs.

I didn't feel like sifting through this whole thread, so sorry if I repeat someone's advice.
Vitamin B-12 is a lifesaver! When you get home wasted, take 2 or 3 and chug a glass of water. Sounds silly I know, but I was absurdly drunk one night and someone gave me a couple vitamins. The next morning I opened one eye, expecting the hangover to start kicking my ass. To my amazement, I felt GREAT!
Also, eating greasy food (pizza, etc.) the next day is supposed to be a lot better than the guilt-induced salad. Apparently, the oil helps neutralize the alcohol. I think I read this somewhere, but I could just be making it up.
peace.

The only problem with alcohol (IMO) is dehydration. I've been drinking nightly for the past few weeks (about 8-12oz of Vodka.....not a good thing), and wake up every morning to take a leak, and I'll pound down a couple big glasses of ice cold water b/c I'm thirsty as f'n hell.
