Cooking IV drugs to kill germs/bacteria - Loose drug/potency?

Hello

So how about it, dose cooking your IV drug-solution for 15seconds evaporate/loose the drugs potency?
(Sites for harm reduction always say to cook your drug for 15 seconds to kill all germs and bacteria and sometimes I read people write that it will destroy some of the drug)

From what I've read (on here possibly) it seems that you have to boil the water for a longer period of time, like the ten-or-so minutes for potability. Additionally, adding heat to certain things, like pills, can cause really nasty shit to fall into the solution. Imagine dissolving some wax from a morphine only to have it re-solidify in your veins!

Indeed, I have a pretty nasty experience with exactly slow-release morphine pills that contained wax.
Years back when I were new to IV I added heat to the solution and the wax dissolved and I rapidly filtered it with cotton and then slammed IV and my arm froze in an instant.
Felt like the vein got jammed and I hit it in the wall with my bodyweight a couple times until it suddenly became warm again. VERY scary experience but who knows what happened.

What do you mean by potability? (Sorry english isn't my first language)
Do you mean the time it takes to kill bacteria really doesn't destroy the drug that it takes longer than that?

It means drinkability. Look up how to purify water on a stove & they usually recommend a 10min boil.

Scary shit, man. That could have been ugly.

Yeah, cooking your shots doesn't actually kill any bacteria. You'd have to heat it for much longer than 15 seconds, and by the time you actually killed anything, you would have destroyed all the actual drugs. So, all heating your shots does, is allow for the cuts and filler garbage, to be dissolved into your shot. Heating does more harm than good.

We have a whole thread in OD about why you shouldn't cook your shots. Here is the link.
