I take 1 mg of buprenorphine a day. I want to taper off on to hydrocodone.

How much hydrocodone will i need to stave off WD and feel normal, NOT high.

I hear that 1mg bup= 30-40mg morphine : I dont beleive that for a second. The bupe may prevent WD from that much, but it is certainly not equivalent in analgesia, respiratory depression, and reward as a pathetic partial agonist. Bupe never ggave me much any analgesia or good feelings just no WD. Hydro makes me feel GOOD.

I feel that 7.5 mg hydrocodone every 8 hours should do it. What are your thoughts and opinions on bupe to hydro.

there are opiate converters on the interweb that will approximate it... everyone is going to feel different, and you are probably going to need to dose the hydrocodone more often than you would normally.

I usually shoot 15-20mg of hydromorphone at a time (equal to 130-180mg morphine) and for me, about .25mg of bupe/ day holds me, so that's what it's equivalency is for me, personally.

maybe some other people can comment on their experiences, but this is an extreme situation of your mileage may vary.

You do realize though that bupe is still wayyy better for tapering than any short acting opiate could be? (For Bben & yes thats just my opinion but god would it be effn impossible for me to taper off any opiate that has the potential to get me high)

And why do you want to switch from a drug that doesn't get you high, but keeps your blood opiate level stable, to a drug that gets you high and keeps your blood opiate level bouncing all over the place.... in effort to get "clean"?

I don't know can't really bash you if thats what you want to do I do see one reason for it, that being the half life and getting over wds quicker, but still I'd much rather prefer bupe.
Anyhow if you're on 1mg bupe, and are focused on the lowest amount of hydro possible I'd say 20-25mg doses maybe twice a day then work your way down. But chances are you can get away with much less. Even if someone does the conversion for you though you're still likely to have to experiment a bit to find out what works best for you.

(@R(x)AGE) Yeh absolutely and one more quick comment but I think when you're on a low dose of bupe like that for any amount of time, then switch back to full agonists that you can take half the amount of full agonists you use to take and get a similar effect.
If you take it too early sure the bupe washes away any type of rush, but I just remember going back from bupe to pods a long time ago it felt like it was my first time taking pods again, just w/out that initial comeup that use to come along with it. Although bupe is strong I have to say just because you're going from partial agonist to full agonist that your brain/body is going to feel that much more held over by it smaller doses.

Kinda of a no shit statment but I was really just that suprised how low my tolerance for full agonists had dropped just by being on bupe.

Are you taking 1mg Suboxone sublingually?

Bupe is very strong compared to other opiates, you'll probably be suprised by how much you will need. I'd imagine you'd need around 45mg hydrocodone/ day or so, based on my past experiences (twice what you're saying basically)...

^^ um; Bupe will get you high definitely if you have no or low opiate tolerance; or if your on maintenance stop taking bupe for 2-3 days and take 2mg.. you will be high..trust me.. the high aint as strong as full agonists but its there no doubt...

LIke someone stated on maintenance.. .Bupe will get you high but because of how long the half life is and it builds up in your system soon being high is a "normal" state... and becomes normal.... Or you feel normal.. because your body is used to it and the opiates blood levels are constantly there...

Where as traditional short acting agonists create such dramatic drops and increases....

The difference between being on BUPE and being off BUPE is Huge man... Bupe puts you in an opiate haze 24/7 .. But yeah it feels "normal"... If you stop taking it you will shit your pants at the difference...

and for the record Bupe withdrawal lasts forever..... forever.....

Ill prob be on bupe forever im such a fucked up addict...... Hopefully i wont fill my old script of 3,000mgs of oxy in 2 days and go on a binge... yea pretty sad it will last me about a week... But ill prob take more bupe to just completely saturate my recpetors and hopefully not think about it

and that binge will get me high as hell but jus tmake me feel shitty and craving more

bupe is a very very potent opioid compaed to most other opiates, dose wise. when im in withdrawl, specifically morphine, i need to take 300mg to feel normal, or i will need to shoot 6bags of dope to be not sick, or iw ill need 160mg of oxy to be sick free just for that day, when i take 4mg of bupe, im withdrawl free better the my past addicitons i stated above. 4mg is plenty to kill withdrawl to a hard core heroin addict, it has a long half life so you can be sick free for 2 days......................yes its addicting, but it doesnt get u high like other opiates, and also blocks effects of narcotics...i dont know how strong 4mg of bupe is compared to other opiates but i know when i was using 200mg of oxy a day, all it took was 4mg bupe to get unsick

cool replies people. but just because bupe takes you out of WD from say a 200mg oxy habit doesnt mean its equivalent in strength to anywhere close to that. It seems bupe is able to block WD through
odd mechanisms.

My opiate naive friends can take 8mg bupe and be fucked up but fine the next day. According to some of the statements here that would equal like 200+ mgs of oxy which is an easily fatal dose for an opiate naive person.

Thats the point of my question. Bupe is tricky and doesnt convert right and there is no good chart for it- just charts for what takes you out of WD not REAL equivalencies. I was looking for people with
personal experience switching out.

Bupe is not that strong. I watch my buddies take 2mg and not bat an eye while non tolerant, and drink boooze with it and be fine. It may be potent at releiving WD but its far from strong as far as other opiates goooo.

not true, it blocks withdrawl because its a potent opioid strong enough to replace the equivalency of whatever opiate ur using, just becuz its a "blocker" doesnt mean thats why it works like that, its an opioid..look ur facts up

you ever wonder that everyone reacts different to BUPE? do u know there real history or drug use? do u sleep in bed with this man, u will be surprised how many people have addiciton to certain drugs and keep it in the closet. you are so close minded and nieve, u peg me as the person who knows it al

As others have mentioned, converting buprenorphine to other opiates isn't as easy as one would think.

For me, 0.5mg buprenorphine (snorted) is about equal to 30-40mg oxycodone (oral). Some people would say 0.5mg is only equal to 20mg oxycodone. Yes, it is a partial agonist. But less is indeed more. Buprenorphine is less effective sublingually than nasally, but its still pretty effective. Oral buprenorphine is a waste of drugs.

I'm going to echo was sekio said, try to taper down more with the bupe, then switch to hydros. Less is indeed more. Once you get below 1mg or so of bupe, the active metabolite norbuprenorphine becomes more of a factor. Norbuprenorphine is a full-agonist.

i kno its an opiate i never said it wasnt fool, im saying its partial agonistic effects does not equate to full agonist effects and it seems it cannot be properly converted to full agonist opiate hence why their is no official conversion for it in terms of analgesia, just for wd relief. As for the other responses im surprised .5 mg snorted feels like 30-40 mg of oxy oral that seems ridiculous IMO. Bupe doesnt
really depress breathing at all and oxy at those doses would depress it alot in opiate naive. If you look it up people bupe has never caused a death alone at any dose by any means other than someone throwing up and choking on it. Its never stopped breathing or the heart, if it did it never got reported. It has killed 2 people on record by choking on their own throwup, and one 95 pound girl who was naive to it and mixed it with 10mg valium and 3 units of alcohol. There are no other deaths from bupe on record.

Has anyone gotten an intense buzz off of bupe before, im curious..... like an oxy or heroin buzz...

Again i seen non tolerant people take 2-16 mgs first time and while they feel sick and throwup, they never ever have breathing issues which with equivalent opiates (i dont think you can equate partial agonists with a ceiling with full agonist opiates) would be just obvious. You never hear of sub deaths like you do with methadone for a reason.

yes i agree, i just want to stop WD though. Last time i detoxed bupe all that happened was i got cold alot, and had teary eyes along with feeling a bit off that was it.
