Containers (small) that don't steal trichomes?

I am lucky enough to be getting very high quality medical buds, that usually have a ton of shiny trichomes. I prefer to store the buds in standard pill bottles or film canisters for less than 2g. The problem with both of these, is that after a few weeks most of the trichomes come off the buds and are stuck to the inside of the containers!!

I would really like to keep the trichomes on the buds, where they should be. I was thinking that glass containers would not do this, but I've been unable to find these in the size I'm looking for (size of pill bottles, just enough to hold around 3.5g or smaller).

I'm assuming sourcing isn't allowed, but could you post pics of small-sized containers that don't steal trichomes, and/or make suggestions on what type of nationwide (US) retail stores might have them?

I want to keep the triches on the buds for aesthetic purposes (looks and convenience)

I bought a set of glass candle holders, all of them come with lids that close securely and I have three different sizes. I think with any container and time you're always going to lose some trichomes. It's definitely better to store them in a small enough container that if you move around with it your buds aren't sliding all over the place but I know they're a lot harder to find.

There's also a lot of different sized mason jars or canning jars, these also work great but I don't know if they make any small enough for 3.5g. Again though, with anything you're always going to lose some. I sometimes use standard pill bottles and I don't think these lose too much as long as it's not sitting around for too long. The problem is they usually aren't airtight so your bud dries out a bit over time which makes some of the trichomes come off.

At your local headshop there's a possibility they have some artsy small storage jars. I've come across them at a few different places, they all had big corks to close off the jar and they usually were pretty small. You probably couldn't fit more than 5 grams in them or so. One bad thing was they were pretty expensive but a lot of them were worked and it looks like a glassblower put some time into each one. A case of mason jars would probably be cheaper than one of these jars.
 
Well it's gonna be very hard to do that honestly...I know you may want to keep the trichs on the buds but imo the best things to do are one, to get a quality grinder with a kief catcher and grind up the bud then put it into your container and save the kief for later when you can throw it on top of a small bowl of bud and get really high from it, or two, to get a kief collection box if you want to keep your buds intact and shake your buds in there to catch the kief underneath and save up the kief just like with the grinder, this just lets you keep the buds in bud form. If you're using this as a travel container though then it is nice to have the buds already ground up so you can just quickly pour them into a bowl and toke up rather than breaking them up whenever you want to smoke but some people prefer to be able to look at the buds (I do too but not when I just want a quick bowl on the road or something...) so it's up to you.

Also keep in mind that the trichs that load up onto the sides can be collected using rubbing alcohol and after many collections are done and stored in a mason jar you can turn it into qwiso hash or you can just add buds to it but that way the trichs aren't lost like they would be if you left them on the bud and then broke them up with your fingers (they just get lost on your hands in the end). Just my two cents.

Appreciate the responses, but we may be on different pages here. I didn't mention this, but I am against grinding up buds before storing them because the herb degrades faster when ground (it takes me about 3-5 months to go through an 1/8th), and mainly because they are so great looking and I like to keep the buds full to "admire" every now and then.

I've also found that collecting triches from pill bottles just isn't practical. I've tried it, and I'd just rather them stay on the buds for convenience and looks. As far as mason jars, they are too big for an 1/8th, and aren't portable enough to fit in a pocket for travel. There's got to be something like a small glass screw-on container that's sold in a home-items type of store right? With the endless variety of stoner products on the internet, how is it that no-one has invented containers that don't attract triches?
 
why not run your solid buds over a screen, get as many triches off as possible - then store your solid nugs in the world famous mason jar? :P

No grindy, no lossy. :D

Visit your local craft store, such as Michaels, to find a small glass container. They have all sorts of sizes and shapes in craft stores, although most of them are probably cork-plug. Either way it's worth checking out.
 
I store my bud in baby food jars. They work great and the fruit ones make a tasty snack when you're high.

Alright so knowing that, you just have to accept the fact that there isn't going to be a container that will leave 100% of the trichs on the buds...it's just not something that's out there (at least not yet or not to my knowledge). I've stored my buds in TONS of different types of containers over the years and I haven't found a single one that will keep all the trichs on the buds. Part of the reason why is that every time you move the container or grab a bud from it you will be knocking off trichs (no matter what you do it's simply inevitable) also places that the buds touch against the sides will also knock trichs off. You would have an easier time finding buds whose trichs stay on them even when you break them up but that's not gonna happen (again at least not yet)...Good luck with your search :)

Anything made of glass will be your best bet. They "steal" the least, although some still come off and get stuck in the glass. Just many factors less than other materials.

lol dude, this is simple shit... those are your problems right there.


Containers just don't "steal" trichomes, they break off and stick to the side of the container. If your carrying it around in a container, that nug is bouncing around constantly and loses crystals with every step. Also, every time you take it out to look at it, you're probably losing some trichomes there as well.


Stop carrying around your whole stash, if you're going out only take as much with you as you need for that day. Keep the rest at home and stop fucking with it lol. I can keep medical nugs for months without losing any crystals, because they sit in a desk and don't get moved at all.
 
i was gonna say baby jars but it looks like someone covered that. you can order different size glass vials or jars on ebay or amazon.

I don't carry around my whole stash, that's not the reason I'm losing triches. Even if I have buds sitting in a pill bottle that doesn't get moved around, it still loses triches. It just seems like plastic is a magnet for triches, no matter how the buds/container is handled.

Also, the buds tend to be super dry, which contributes to losing triches I guess. If I moistened them up with say 1-2 drops of water from an eye dropper (for an 1/8th), would this prevent loses somewhat?
 
Every time I get an 8th of dank I grind it up and put it in a pill bottle which at the end there is a extremely thin layer of kief on the bottle but nothing noticeable at all. I also got a small round jelly Jarvis break up my weed and put it in there and I give the jar a tap at the end and it comes out 100% clean.

I would invest in a small glass jar, it won't stick at all.
