Does anyone have any tips about contact lenses? For example, putting them in, taking them out, and the care/maintenance of them so as not to get an eye infection?

I recently got contact lenses. I was able to put them in and take them out fine at the optometrist office, but now am struggling with them. Also, I want to make sure I don't unintentionally give myself an eye infection. I always wash my hands before putting the lenses in or trying to take them out, and right now they're soaking in the disinfectant solution given to me by the doctor.

^I think you are doing good with proper caring of your contact lenses.it will take you some time to get used to putting them on but as directes, always make sure your hands are clean.

One thing I would like to add is that if you are washing your hands make sure to use mild non cosmetic soap because soaps with perfume oils or lotion has leave a film on the hands which you may transfer to your lenses which can cause eye irritation.

Thanks maya :)

This is probably a silly question, but am I supposed to wash the lens off before putting it in from the disinfecting solution? It's stinging my eye so bad. I'm trying to put it in right now.

I think that you would have to use the solution to clean the lenses before putting on. Do not use saline solution or tap water to clean the lenses but instead rub your contact lenses with your fingers then rinse the lenses with solution before soaking them and make sure to wash hands first before doing this.

It took me some time to get used to putting them in. Make sure you have your eyelids wide open, and move your eyeball around while putting them in so that it sticks in place.
You'll get used to them eventually.
The stinging can be caused by two things. The solution, it should go away within seconds in that case.
Or dust stuck on the lens. If it's the case, wash it with the solution.
I guess you're using a mirror?

Soon it'll be second nature, but the first couple days to a week is pretty annoying.
If the stinging on your eye doesn't go away then take them out and rinse them in solution.
My way of putting them in was to press them to my eye and kind of roll my eye in circles and it pushes any air bubbles out.
And to take them out it's just a simple light pinch and pull them away

Thanks everyone :) I'm starting to get the hang of it now. I put it kind of in the corner of my eye and then look around and gently push on my eyelid. I put them in the disinfectant then rinse with sterile saline before putting them in. So far so good!
