Contact High

SWIM's entirely drug and alcohol free partner absorbs most every bit of his altered state, whatever that may be, whenever she happens to encounter such.

often, she is rather irritated by this fact.

^^ My cats always react very weirdly to my tripping. Especially on DOC, and really especially on ketamine when I've become pure consciousness. It freaks the shit out of them.

one of my friends dogs does as well, at first i thought animals behaviour seemed strange because i was fucked but a sober friend who has been present has confirmed it.

trip.more just because something doesnt happen for you it doesnt mean that everyone else is wrong. i think that animals definately pick up something around people tripping that causes them to behave unusually. as for humans i dont really have anything to base a solid opinion on as when im around people tripping i always am aswell :)

Hey guys just lay of trip.more I am pretty sure he is just denying anything not easily explainable by Science because with the amount he trips, such beliefs are dangerous stepping stones on the road to insanity. At least, I feel they are for me.

I have a friend that claims he feels really "stoned" when he's around other people who are actually high.. I beleive him too becuase the weird thing is his eyes get red and he seems like he just smoked with us when he didnt.

*coughpassivesmokingcough*

in all seriousness i suport the idea of a contact high, aside from anything i have a friend who from the other end of the countrie, on MSN just asked me about my mood, she had managed to pick up my mood somewhat, she was confused by it and asked if it was my emotions she was feeling (wierd girl, but with gifts it appears)

have yet to experience a contact high myself, but usually its me who has the drugs

2C-I is manic as all git and makes you vibrate a particularly discernable frequency, thass why Shulgie et al be quoted so oft in re + sumthin w/0mg dose.

contact highs are great n' all, but some 'adepts' become trip vampires. you know the ones, they steal your high, pilfer your trip, dilute your dose contributing fuck-all to the vibe but gettin a freeride, the dirty bastard drainbows we called them ~20 years ago on Dead tour.

^thats just mean, i mean getting an accidentaly trip, yeah cool, actively setting otu to steal one :p

^ I swear to god certain people used to do that to me. I wasn't joking in my previous post where I said there were times when it seemed that I was perfectly sober (right in the middle of the peak of an acid trip) and that the "sober" dude next to me was acting like he was feeding off my trip.

On a more serious note, a friend of mine noticed that I had a certain "catchy" vibe going on this afternoon, I was on 1/4 hit of acid (which, it turns out, gives a nice little mood lift without actually tripping)

Contact Highs

wanted to open this thread to discussion of the phenomenon known as the contact high...

currently, I'm in a relationship with a person who doesn't use drugs and never has. a couple weeks ago, I ingested 50mg aMT and she came over to hang out with me. the longer we were together, the more psychedelicized (even subtly) she seemed to act! we explored the land her family still technically owns, had some beautiful moments there, and spontaneously decided we needed to set up a projector in the backyard. it was an "ah-ha!" moment... she was fascinated by my state of mind, and noticed the nystagmous and eye flutters I was occasionally experiencing as well.

so, later that night, we do go through with the projector idea, and to make a long story short and keep this from being a trip report, she acted more tripped out than I did the whole night, yelping and breaking down into fits of laughter at the slightest stimulation. I know how someone pretending to be tripping acts, and if I didn't know otherwise I would have thought she was actually tripping on aMT. and even more interestingly for me, her friend (another person who has never done drugs, and had no clue I was tripping on anything and had never met me before) did also!

just as I was becoming certain they were both tapping into my psychedelia, her friend turned to us and said "hey guys, do you ever get that thing where your eyes keeping darting all over the place?" I chuckled a bit and said "trust me, I know exactly what you mean."

I would love to hear more accounts like this! I find it utterly fascinating. me and this person are pretty close, and I feel like we are always in eachothers' psychic space (even when sober), which can sometimes be uncomfortable.

every time I've tripped near her or even see her in the afterglow, she always seems to act different and tap into my mindset whether or not she knows I'm on anything.

I think it's a reciprocal thing because you're relaxed & happy it rubs off on her - like a self fulfilling prophecy but in a good way - or an inverse vicious circle :D

I reckon people unconsciously realise it's OK to sort of let go.:)

Its all about atmosphere, like when I get high and friends are around, I'll have visualizations going, slow music, mood lights and it just warps everyones perception. Like even people who aren't high share many of the same feelings. Maybe its just the whole evolutionary 'monkey see, monkey do' like naturally imitating people etc etc.

Especially one of my friends who actually sees stuff when he closes his eyes and stuff normally, he always thought it was normal until we told him otherwise. He gets major contact high, if anyone were to say who was the highest they'd say him, even if he wasn't on anything.

I'm glad you posted this. :)

I've had a lot of experiences of contact highs. Now, on one hand, it is to be expected that if you're in a good mood, others around you will have that mood rub off on them. That's how humans work... we are affected by one anothers' mental and emotional states. And for the record, AMT is one of the best substances there is at providing a contact high to others.

However, I have had some pretty weird contact high experiences. Before we were married, I would trip around my wife pretty often without her knowing, as she has never tripped and is incapable of treating me as she normally would if she knows I'm tripping. On many occasions, especially on 2C-I and DOC, she would start to report the same symptoms I was having, even including visual patterning. On other occasions, I was tripping on something when she and a good friend of ours were hanging out, usually when we'd be spending the day biking at a great outdoor location nearby. I remember one time in particular, I was on a low dose of 2C-T-7 and mushrooms and the world was looking so beautiful. We stopped to stare at the sky and the clouds for a bit. The clouds for me were swirling around in that amazing psychedelic way, and my friend who was with us suddenly commented about how the clouds were breathing and he felt like he was on acid (acid is the only psychedelic he's done). I never told them I was tripping. Another time, when that same friend and I were at a party, before I knew him well at all, I was on 2C-I. I actually wrote a report about this experience which is on Erowid... you may have read it before. But the entire party seemed to have gained my ability to feel the social vibes to an enhanced degree, and throughout the night I heard many people express confusion at what was going on. But the most telling was when I overheard this friend of mine say to his girlfriend "Man, who slipped the acid in the drinks?"

I have all kinds of experiences with contact highs. I would say it's just emulation of emotional state, except for the fact that I've repeatedly had friends report visuals out of the blue without knowing I was tripping. Actually, I still think it's emulation of mental state, just that there is more possible with this emulation than people might tend to think.

lol, if it's all in my head explain "ever get that feeling where your eyes are darting?" coincidence? maybe, but probably not.
