Opioids Constipation with light Oxy use

Hey guys, I apologize in advance if this isn't the right forum for this (feel free to move thread).

Anyway, I've been taking about 5-10mg of Oxycodone a day for a month and a half or so, and recently the constipation it's been causing has become unbearable. I'm surprised it's doing this to me considering I'm taking a relatively minor dose.

I read through the constipation/opiate "megathread," which was very informative, but I feel like I need to explain my particular situation to get more specific advice.

Basically, I haven't been able to "normally" go #2 without laxative help in about two weeks. In two weeks, I've had about 2 or 3 fully clearing bowel movements from taking Ex-Lax, but the second I stop taking it, I stop going to the bathroom.
Two days ago, I stocked up on Dulcolax softener, GNC Super Fiber, Acidophilus pills, and dried prunes. I've been taking a combination of that since and so far it hasn't done much but give me crazy gas.

I also stopped taking the Oxy altogether until this resolves. I think at this point it's more of a mind fuck than a serious issue, but it's concerned me enough to post about it.

I'm still a relative newbie to Oxy (obviously with my dosages), but this kind of constant constipation really caught me offguard. Any advice would be appreciated, and going forward I won't be taking Oxy without making sure I'm super prepared to handle this...

Try drinking some tomato juice a little while before dosing, Also bene-fiber helps.

2. Constipation is best dealt with by having tomatoes, tomato juice, or Metamucil before the opiate session and taking a tablet of senna 90 or more minutes before ingesting the opiates. [Eating fruit regularly is also a great help.] Keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water and fluids with electrolytes, especially on hydrocodone, also helps the problem from getting as bad as it could. Particularly with hydrocodone, the user should either avoid acidic materials before the opiate session or consume a solution of sodium bicarbonate to send their system pH back up before consuming the opiates. Many people experience an initial bout of diarrhoea on codeine, although they and others almost invariably wind up dealing with constipation even worse than oxycodone in the end.

i have never heard of someone becoming so constipated from such a small amount of opiates.

im guessing you just have a hypersensitivity to opioids.

good luck and maybe try miralax along with fiber in your diet and laxatives about 2-3 times a week. I once was so constipated from an opiate(suboxone) that I couldnt go but a tiny bit every couple weeks. I ended up with the largest fecal impaction that my doctor had ever seen. It took a while to get it out and when it came out it was a five foot long shit and it felt like giving birth. I had to be monitored in the hospital while I was doin this in case somethin went wrong. They even checked my poop after. It was sticking out of the toilet it was so big. They told me it could of caused major damage so please be carfefull.

that was a nice description i laughed really hard thinking of that much shit=D

Yeah, the constipation can be terrible. It's one of those wish-someone-had-told-me-sooner scenarios, but I quickly discovered the culprit and the solution. If you're going to experiment with oxycodone, then you may need to pick up a bottle of MiraLax. Take the MiraLax as directed before taking the oxycodone and a couple of days after the oxycodone binge. Without MiraLax, I would never have made it binging all week long through Thanksgiving.=D

Try taking lansoyl...(mineral oil and a laxative) 3 or so hours after eating your oxy. OR every night before bed.

Taking a lare (but safe) dose of vitamin C can help flush out the pipes. Citric acid, and calcium are natural laxatives as well, so they could help. I know how you feel man, sometimes after a perc/codeine binge the morning dump feels more like childbirth.

for me 40 mgs(which i don't do anymore) a day is the point where i can't shit without senokots. i just take 2 at night and drink a few bottles of water and in the morning i'll go. now since i do 20 it's a lot easier. i do take fish oil, drink a lot of orange juice. oh yea, in the morning right around when you're about to take your dose make some coffee, drink it hot, and also have a glass of water to drink with it. chug the coffee, chug the water, take your oxy and you'll have to shit in about 2 minutes. coffee, water, oxy in the morning gets the job done.

you are correct.....tomato juice is acidic.....so I wouldnt trust that post too much or put too much merit in it. when someone contradicts themselves during an advice explanation, you really shouldnt bother listening to that person cuz its not very far off from a ranting homeless person who talks about shit that doesnt make sense and is contradictory.....like when a 30 something homeless guy rants about being in WWII....rediculous.
Please be careful who you take advice from. And I dont mean any offense to this guy its just I gotta call you out when your advice dont make sense together. Pleny of people make a mistake when posting here on BL. We try our best(especially/mainly the mods) to keep this website full of good, informative posts and posters, but every now and then one of them slips through.
Everyone makes a mistake.

I use a 12 mcg/hr Fentanyl patch sublingually & up to 50 mg oxycodone daily. I have found Miralax the most helpful, but as others have said, needs to be taken regularly. If I use more opiates, I'll take stool softener + 25mg Sennosides. I've found the generics of all these as good as brand name. That enormous Mr. Hanky story is both hilarious and painful to hear about. Good Luck. PS: Lotsa water too.

Yeah, Miralax is really the way to go. I have a ritual that I do whenever I am about to binge on opiates, and part of that ritual is making warm tea. I simply make the tea, pour in a cap-full of Miralax, snort my pills and drink my tea. Then, for one or two days following my opiate binge, I continue taking the Miralax as directed (one cap daily). I have never had a problem with constipation after discovering Miralax.

You know, it's funny because for a drug that I believe is so glamorous, well... the itching, the constipation... I have a bottle of Miralax and a tube of Cortizone on my desk right here with me now. It's like I'm fucking 80 years old! =D

Magnesium salts work miracles. It doesn't make you suffer a few hours before the shit comes out like some drugs (e.g. bisacodyl). Some magnesium sulfate hydrate should be available at pharmacies. The solution has a very bitter taste but what can you do? Here we've got 25g magnesium sulfate heptahydrate packs. I myself prefer to take more tablets with some other magnesium salt (lactate for example) and vitamin B6, I know the amount is incomparable to that magnesium sulfate heptahydrate pack (it's advised to solve 10-15g in half a glass of water...), it works after a few days but drinking ~100ml of a solution of 10g MgSO4 * 7H2O is a stunt for me. :P

Ok guys, little update:

I still can't normally go to the bathroom. I've gone a couple times since Xmas using Exlax still, but purchased Miralax and been taking every day for three days now. So far, it hasn't worked for me at all. I stupidly dosed right after going a few days ago, and seemed to just cause my body to repeat the process.

I've had enough, so I decided to call in the big guns. I went out and bought that Magnesium Citrate and took a full bottle about a half hour ago. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for all the responses guys, really helps.

It's interesting because I've taken opiates on and off at those low dosages for about 2 years, and this is the first time I've ever had problems with constipation. I guess it would seem I need to take laxatives with or before I dose on Oxy if I want to continue using it?
