Conspiracy Theories (“Alternative Research”)

Translation: "this place is mostly a liberal echo chamber. We reserve our right to mock alternative researchers and will call you a conspiracy theorist as we see fit."

There is nothing wrong with being a conspiracy theorist.

Unless conspiracy theorists are not allowed and no challenges or debate welcome to the powers that be that is.

If so then surely that would be sitting the rules, which it is not.

Are you a member of 'Forbidden archaeology " by any chance?

Does this thread have capacity to host ancient conspiracy theories? There are an awful lot of archaeological digs that have unearthed massive pyramids , monoliths and temples which were seen as a conspiracy theory by wowsers a long time ago. But proof is proof.

I am more interested in history and past human civilisations than the hum drum pettiness of today's world.

Not real savvy with technology either, if interested in delving into ancient civilisations and stuff, I'm down but probably not the right forum lol

Well, first of all I was trying to respond in a light-hearted way to your dismissal of anyone who doesn’t think like you.

"Conspiracy theorist" is a pejorative, insulting dismissal of anyone skeptical of the mainstream narrative. I do not dismiss anyone, I'm open to discussion and hearing the evidence. But if you're gonna insult anyone who doesn't think like you before the discussion even begins, you're not interested in a discussion.

And after the tantrum you just threw, I’d prefer you consider me not worth your time and move on to your next victim. Scorn me, please.

What are you talking about? We've established that "conspiracy theorist" is a scornful term designed to shut down discussion. What I demonstrated to you is that we can use memes and shaming language to dismiss you too. Incidentally, I predicted that you would play the victim if I did and you did exactly that. "Throwing a tantrum" "boo hoo you have anger problems" "scorn me please".

Seriously, you seem to have some anger issues, and there are other places on BL to address them. Hopefully you are or will take advantage of them.

Do you usually insult people and then tell them they have anger issues? You should gain some perspective and self-awareness.

Furthermore, BL is a harm reduction forum, I don't discuss anything other than drugs on here. This thread was shoved in my face by being promoted on every single page of BL I was visiting and I found the title offensive so I just dropped some advice on a proper decorum if you desire a fruitful discussion, because calling everyone who doesn't accept government propaganda like you do psychotic is not conducive to that.

For Christ's sake.

The whole reason this thread exists is because certain individuals here wouldn't stop posting conspiracy theories to every thread in CEPS.

Not all of us want to talk about conspiracy theories or whatever you wanna call them in every discussion of world events. That's why a separate thread was created, where people who want to do that can.

As far as I'm concerned, this threads for the people who do wanna talk about that stuff.

So tell me, what do you want to call this thread? What would be a name you would be happy with?

I for one don't particularly care what it's called.

The origins of the conspiracy theory meme take hold in the wake of the JFK assassination where a growing number of the public took notice of the numerous holes and contradictions in the government's official narrative of the incident. The public then began hearing about conspiracy theorists. These were, as the story was told, people with paranoid delusions whom no one should listen to and it was successfully crafted as an effective psyop against opposition to state propaganda. By dismissing the evidence without looking at it, you prove that you are patriotic and mentally balanced. This then evolved to a meme where any outrageous exposure of state atrocities or corruption is to be dismissed only because it is outrageous and nothing more.

So what should theories debunking the government's poorly-written coverups and contradictions be called? I don't know. A "corruption exposé"? Julian Assange calls them "leaks". How about "government coverup theories"? They're too crummy for the feel-not-think public in my opinion. Can you think of something more sexy? After all, I'm a paranoid delusional black sheep who has already been outcasted by the public so PR isn't my strength.

I get this feeling that even if we changed the thread to a different term, different conspiracy theorists (indulge me here, it's super hard to talk about this without a substitute term yet) would have different ideas about what the replacement term should be.

Regardless, it doesn't have to please everyone in the world, just the people here, if you guys can sort out an alternative term you'd be happy with, I for one would have no objections to changing the thread title to reflect it.

...if shit-talking is the objective then I guarantee I can do that way better than anyone on here... I guarantee you'll be the ones crying victim if I reciprocated and started dismissing you all as ass-kissing sheep and retarded village idiots who love having the government's cock rammed down your throats.

You decided to respond to a promoted thread (it’s not just a message to you, btw) with a lot of anger.

And I’ve never expressed to anyone prior to you that they seem have an anger problem upon first posting in CEP&S because I’ve never felt that way.

The reason I volunteer here is because it’s a harm reduction forum, and part of that is expressing concern. I understand text can be a poor conveyor of a message, but mine was genuine.

"Conspiracy theorist" is a pejorative, insulting dismissal of anyone skeptical of the mainstream narrative.

I’m sorry you are this offended about a term used by a lot of people. But it is used by a lot of people, and obviously you’ve heard it.

I do not dismiss anyone, I'm open to discussion and hearing the evidence. But if you're gonna insult anyone who doesn't think like you before the discussion even begins, you're not interested in a discussion.
What are you talking about? We've established that "conspiracy theorist" is a scornful term designed to shut down discussion. What I demonstrated to you is that we can use memes and shaming language to dismiss you too.

Okay?

Incidentally, I predicted that you would play the victim if I did and you did exactly that. "Throwing a tantrum" "boo hoo you have anger problems" "scorn me please".

Please. You considered yourself to be a victim of name-calling before you even posted. I’m not trying to race you to the bottom.

Do you usually insult people and then tell them they have anger issues? You should gain some perspective and self-awareness.

No I really don’t, and I’m sorry you took it that way. I wished could’ve expressed it more sympathetically.

Furthermore, BL is a harm reduction forum, I don't discuss anything other than drugs on here. You seem to make a lot of assumptions for someone who wants consideration in how they are perceived. It’s a two-way street.

Why don’t you post your truth? You obviously have some specific ideas and could add a different perspective.

lol why was this thread promoted? I thought it was full of nonsense and crazytalk

Yo what's up Delsyd. :)

this place is mostly a liberal echo chamber.

Have you noticed that like half of the people posting here these days are saying the same kinds of stuff as you? And no one is censoring it? Just because plenty of people refute your claims still doesn't mean this place is an echo chamber.

It's not as bad as what it used to be I'll give y'all that and commend you for relaxing yourselves (I will possibly take some credit for encouraging that). And lately 'we've seen a few people pop in and comment who have espoused similar opinions to myself.

It's not just about censorship though. It's the ridicule and derision that some people show to certain people when their opinions deviate from the mainstream status quo. It's almost as if a simple but sensible alternative theory is something of a fabricated fiction/novelty as opposed to something worthy of investigation and to be taken seriously.

To balk at the idea that powerful people conspire in secret is extremely chowderheaded.

^that's the scary thing it's sooo blatant now and they can just get away with it. The mass programming really is complete.

Yes this stuff is very interesting. We think that we're so smart today but we have no idea how some of the megaliths were built or what was their real purpose.

It was a conspiracy to say that 12,000 years ago we were hit by a massive comet that almost wiped us out but they recently found the crater in Greenland. That might've been a 'reset' button on an obviously advanced civilization.

Do you know anything about Tartarian buildings?

Have you considered those other ppl are him?

Apparently, the parent of a Sandy Hook victim won bigtime in court for defamation.
On the one hand, free speech. On the other hand, this conspiracy theory undoubtedly caused a lot of people a lot of pain.
Maybe it’s costly speech?

it’s interesting to see how people are being brought to account for things they say.

The internet has allowed people to disregard social norms and be e-brave. It’ll be fascinating to see how society and the courts deal with situations like this one.
