Console Console Gamers - Whatcha playin?

Scarface the world is yours (PS2, they all will be) -- Pretty fun "What if" story with alot of good voice actors, some returning from the movie. GTA based but with a max payne style "Numb" mode. Coke dealing, money laundering, mansion expanding -- ya know scarface shit.

Silent hills origins: I am not very far in yet

Rule of Rose -- Survival horror game. Pretty dark so far, well real dark. I guess the disc is rare and runs for like 700 bucks. (Time to burn some DVD's, jp im too tech incompetent)

Still having trouble with platformers - not sure if there is controller lag or reflex lag to be 100%, will have to try one on a disc directly compared to the OPL w/e it is off the harddrive

I finally got with the times and updated my console, got a PlayStation 5. Been playing Diablo III & IV, and Path of Exile 2 primarily. Also beat Final Fantasy XVI a month or two ago

Dope! I do not trust the 'no disc' system though (Says the guy running a hardrive)-- especially after hearing they plan to shut down a large part of the ps4 'online/downlodable' catalog (If not trash it entirely I already made my move so I didnt read that closely)

Really I just cant afford it. *Turns out running a tube TV aint cheap either though!*

I only ever play Mario kart and Street fighter 2 on my sons mini snes, he bought an old tube TV so it looks exactly like it should instead of all pixilated on a 55 inch TV.
I just can't get the hang of all these new games for x box etc ,there's to many distractions like maps and changing weapons etc.
I've got a meta quest but only use it for movies

I am with you 100% I feel like I haven't "Finished" super snes. Too many buttons in new systems IMHO -- the xbox controller was the first one I said "Nah that looks like some alien shit" than gamecube ... wii was a good idea but bad execution.

L3 and R3 -- dont make me push the analog sticks down!! Too many buttons is the basic complaint, bad ergonomics..

Pretty sure there are controller ports so you could use a ps4 controller on xbox 360 (not positive lol) but even if so I have questions about button configuration swapping. (For example mario 64 is weird on ps2, askin ya to hit buttons ya dont have)
Too bad you can't use an SNES controller for ps2/4/5 w/e you rockin lol

The tube TV is killin me in electricity though!

Anyone know if me keepin my tube microphone plugged in all month is skyrocketting the bill? They instruct to leave it on and its expensive so I always have -- never seen electricity bills like the last couple months either though!

Beat scarface -- great game but the "Grinding to get digital money" gets a bit old as to unlock the last mission you basically just have to grind for hours making fake money.

Moved on to a super cutting edge game called Super Mario 64 -- the PS2 port is all fuckered and the camera angles suck horribly -- but I came here to play mario damn it!

After watching how nintendo moves they will never get a dollar of mine though -- the playstation was suppose to be the "Nintendo playstation" but they fucked sony (IMO) -- copyright happy fuckers.
Never had a genesis so I guess I am going to learn sonic after this.

Excuse my strange urge to do things in chronological order --- what is a badass not shooting or driving game for PS2 - preferably not survival horror or sports either. (Narrow lane I suppose but over 4k titles)

Have you played James Bond Night Fire? Reminded of it, when you said shooting and driving. Loved that one.

I like going back and replaying nintendo games. Like mario 64, in 2015ish i beat the game (for the first time ever, with the help of a walkthough). And SSX 3, i bought for Xbox S over the weekend, and that's fun as hell. Tony Hawk pro skater 2 i got for Xbox S too. Those two games, SSX and TH, the soundtracks are sick.

I have not played nightfire -- looking for a platformer next probably (NOT SHOOTING AND DRIVING haha) but idk if my fingers lag or the controls do. Ppl have assured me it is my fingers but I could speedrun the original mario so idk --- lost levels was not the challenge everyone seems to make it out to be either -- so when crash bandicoot is kicking my ass I got questions lol

Oh tony hawk pro skater 2 I slaughtered at, none of my friends could beat me -- but I think 4 (The one with bobo fet -- I could literally get infinite points at one level/course -- two halfpipes use his in air special you get the speed to manual back to the other one and do that ad infinitum.

SSX tricky I think came with my original PS2 -- all the SSX games were dope.

Haha I got like 15 stars on the original mario 64 so far - the camera angles and tellin me to hit z and a and weird shit isnt workin great for me but I shall persist!

Speed running is cool, i used to watch Binny on super mario 64 and a couple guys do GTA 3, on twitch some years ago.

Oh NOT shooting and driving, some unique and fun ones that i remember: Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry - newer ones: Assassins Creed, Resident Evil. I've played all of those very fun.

Sorry just joining in now, maybe i missed what your genre preferences are?

I can only speedrun the original mario as it was just part of my youth.

Yea I just beat Winback 2, 007 from russia with love and scarface (GTA clone with like max payne mode) so I am thinking a platformer next as I always enjoyed them. I SUCK at mario 64 -- blaming the port for now but not doing much better with crash bandicoot (any of em really) which leads me to believe there may be some delay issues with HDD games instead of discs --- I believe all common info says this is untrue unless playing through a USB or something(?)

Devil May Cry is great -- was a resident evil make but it was too "actiony" for lack of a better term so they changed it and started a new franchise. Resident Evil is a favorite forsure -- beat all of em up to/including code veronica -- but past that there are a bunch of new ones. Assassin creed I think is Ps3 so I am screwed but it did look great!

They can be rough like that! -- but RPG's are what kills me exploring/time waste wise

I gotta go buy the crash bandicoot copy to see if it is me or if there is some lag --- I use to be good at platformers. But usually the 2-d ones I will be the first to admit.

I think I am going to give the sonic series a try (They have the first 3 on one of the sonic adventure games as a feature or idk I have access to em) - they should be pretty mario skillset transferable(?) I hope haha

I am mostly a shooting game horror survival game guy but I just beat three of those so I am trying to branch out a bit --- and I never did own a genesis lol

Celebrating my 2nd to last day of unemployment, smoking a fatty (probably only 5 or 6 hits actually) in about 30 min then gunna play Skyrim all day hopefully. Was on sale for 75% off, just $10.

I'll be clean of the weeds on Friday. Probably..

So funny how my hobbies devolve immidiately lol. Yesterday after 1st toke I tried to read, but ended up listening to Pardon Me by Incubus over and over then falling asleep. Today I'm playing video games all day.

See guys.. if you are in sobriety, remember how quickly things can devolve 😅

Ay yie yieee

Haha beat sly cooper 2 band of thieves

started / about half way through mortal kombat shaolin monks.

(Goin right down that top 100 list -- the one im lookin at anyways)

with all I heard about that game I am dissapointed -- well all the references I see ppl make to it I dont get lol.

I heard in ww2k6 they are charging ppl like 40 bucks to UNLOCK MOVES. Could you imagine buying a SNES game and they like "30 bucks for bonus fatality cartridge" -- and at least youd have a cartridge.

sorry I am really against the whole digital library movement -- mainly cuz I suck with computers lol

Well im runnin an HDD so I dont have a physical library -- i could back the shit up ( I think ) but am wary of trying to lol

The thing about the digital library is you dont really own anything (at least with playstation) -- they reserve all rights to change and pull that shit down whenever they want. I think I heard something about ps4's digital library on plus going away...

Im old is what it comes down to I suppose, I dont trust buying software or apps in general.

It's even worse than that :(

Some Titles are not "yours" even if you have physical media. When the apps starts it is possible for it to "phone home" before it will run. The easy way to test for this is disconnect your internet and start the game. If it requires the internet connection then it is likely that there is a "switch" in the software that they can turn off when they decide to pull a game. The last version of Sim City was the first Title I ran into that had that capability. It is more commonly used as Digital Rights Protection.
