Considering studying abroad in New Zealand

Because the language requirement at my school can suck it, I'm using the loophole of going abroad. I'm pretty much between London and New Zealand, but I've started leaning towards the latter.

Can anyone tell me some informative or fun facts about New Zealand? Anything that might be applicable to my situation is welcome.

Also, what's the drug scene like?
