Consequences of importing meds into Aus?

Think about it, GBL, like most illicit drugs, is probably transported across countries via the ports. Customs can only check probably a maximum of 10% of shipments (if I remember rightly). Adding to this, on the large scale of importation, syndicates are going to go to great measures to hide what they are trafficking. These meds on the other hand will be sent via airmail, which is much easier to search, via ion scanners, exrays, sniffer dogs etc., and compared to shipments there is much less volume to check, only letters and parcels compared to entire shipping crates.
To me, doctor shopping sounds like a much better option
 
If you have a prescription from a doctor for some tablets how do you go about getting it through customs? Do you have to send in a letter from doctor or show evidence of prescription?

Please can someone advise.
 
^ Australian law stipulates that if you are going to import a controlled substance from overseas, then you first must have the appropriate licence and permit, and if you do infact have a doctor's prescription - then it has to be written by a doctor that is registered in Australia. (I can provide source if needed.... too tired ATM 8( )

So in other words, online pharmacies that claim to include a prescription from one of their doctors along with your ordered medication, doesnt make it legal to import it. Again it has to be written from a doctor registered in Australia.

Is this what you are meaning??
If i've got it wrong and you actually mean you hold a valid australian prescription, then I can't see why you would bother trying to import a med when it would seem much cheaper, not to mention less hassle to buy locally..... :\
 
pharm_friendly is right, most prescriptions that are written in australia are done for pbs approved medicines, so it shouldnt cost more that 20 something dollars, or less if you are on a concession card to buy it from a pharmacy here with a legit prescription

I've read the TGA website, and frankly it is not clear whatsover to me.

If say i want to save money by buying viagra from overseas (online) instead of a local pharmacy, seeing as it is not listed on the TGA's "List of drug substances requiring import and or export authorisations", does this mean i don't have to worry?

And what about medications that are not sold in australia, and are also not listed on any controlled lists?

If they catch you importing Viagra with out a script you will get into some trouble not sure how much it won't be too serious but you will get into trouble.

If you have a script then you have nothing to worry about.
 
touch wood, but i can hardly see customs bothering knocking on your door requesting a script for a non controlled substance.

Your question regarding a medication not sold here and not on any controlled substances list: I'd check to see if it could be considered an analogue first. And you can always ask the TGA if you're not sure, so you should always be able to find out whether a substance is restricted or not.
 
I know people who have imported 100+ valiums/xanax etc from overseas. If they find it they will just seize the package and send you a letter. If you try doing it with opiates though (oxy hydro etc) then you might get a knock on the door from the police.

Use a fake name always and don't leave a trail on your computer talking about it. Also use an anonymous proxy when ordering, that way they can't prove it was you.

I know this isn't exactly what you asked, but good advice none the less for anyone else who doesn't already know.
 
You won't get in any trouble importing viagra. I've had customs open packages with 100+ modafinil and viagra both of which require a perscription and had them sent on to me without confiscation.

I've also had packages seized by customs containing 100+ valium and only received a letter from customs. The letter is registered post so you have to sign for it so it's pretty easy to know when your stuff has been confiscated if your expecting your goodies to come via regular mail. Just don't go and sign for the customs letter and as always use a fake name.

Also, having a script will not help at all. To import medicines on appendix A and B of the TGA restricted imports lists your required to have a special import license.
 
I've had customs open a pack of 100 modafinil too and just sent it on without any letter or confiscation. It just depends on which customs worker you get I suppose.
 
I second that. I've ordered viagra many times, (cheap generics) and since most of the cheaper viagra generics come from india, alot of my viagra packages have been opened (India is considered a hotspot so theres a high chance your package will be opened if they suspect anything) and sent back on their way to me :)

Customs just dont care about it, its not on the Appendix B list.

I can't believe it's been over 2 years since I started this thread...

Since then I have definitely tested the bounds of importing medications from overseas, both legal and illegal.

In my time I've only had 2 love letters and I've made dozens of imports. Never had any visits by the police or other consequences. Although I wouldn't advise new BLers to follow in my foot steps, as I'm sure luck has had a lot to do with my success, the consequnces of importing medications such as valium and other benzos are basically nothing - by using a fake name the customs letter love letter can't ever come back to haunt you (unless you continually import stupid amounts of appendix a restricted substances). The consequnces of importing G, neo dove products, or any other heavily restricted items could result with a criminal record however. I strongly advise anyone thinking of importing such substances to think twice if you want to know why PM me.

Also one more point to add, the PBS is a rip off compared to most OS suppliers. Many earlier posts in this thread seem to think that doctor shopping is much cheaper than buying from overseas this is total crap. I know from experience that benzos bought from the right sources are up to 50% cheaper than any PBS medicines, plus instead of getting just 20 you get 100.

LOL, the PBS is a ripoff? If ordering OS meds was 100% successful then you have a point, but all it takes is one or two losses to customs and you're not only lighter in the wallet, but you have a customs record, and you still have no meds. Hmmmm... not hard to understand 8)
 
^ if you ship from the right places there's a 90% chance you will get your stuff in. As I said I've only had 2 customs letters in 2 years and as long as you use a fake name you won't get a customs record.

Plus I've been OS recently and even though one of my seizures was under my name customs weren't interseted at all and it definitely hasn't made my orders any any of my orders less likely to come in.

The PBS is a rip off. Trust me, for some meds like tramadol it's not, but for any benzos it really is.
 
lol, fake name isn't gonna do you much good (infact it incriminates you more so) if they have your address.
if it was a serious thing such as a big order from appendix B, all they gotta do is look at your credit card or internet usage.
anyway this site shouldn't be used for ways on how to dodge customs and the law.
 
Since when would you use your credit card anyway and as I've said in my earlier posts any seized letters come as registerd mail as apposed to regular mail so if your unlucky enough to have something seized all you have to do is say this person doesn't live at my address and not sign for it. But your right if you continually have items seized addressed to your place eventually could get in trouble. Plus hows customs supposed to know how many "jerry smiths" there are out there and whats to say new tenants havent moved in or that mail from old tenants isn't still being mailed to an old address - I regularly get mail addressed to my old tenants and I've been living here for 3 yrs.

But hey your right I don't want to be seen as condoning this type of thing, but the title of the thread is "consequences of importing meds" and as someone who has had a lot of experience dealing with customs and imports I have to say the consequences have been little or nothing.

I've been ordering benzos for a few years now for personal use (sufferer of quite bad anxiety and only order diazepam now), and have recently received my 3rd customs letter in Australia. All 3 letters which I have received are all the same, except the last 2 had another page with the option of applying for a permit for imports. The most recent letter with the permit page was different and appeared maybe a little more "strict". Any information would be very much appreciated. Do I have alot to worry about? :/
 
^I'd say not- if they are sending you letters, it means they probably aren't coming to kick your door in. That said, I wouldn't push it any further. Customs are very aware of the whole o'seas pharmacy thing. The liklelihood of them 'raiding' you for ordering some valiums is low, but will happen if you keep ordering this stuff. Why don't you just speak to a doctor in Australia?
