Confused about what's safer, and what's more pure

Years ago I was told by friends that it was 'safer' to purchase a branded pressed pill of MDMA. They said that these pills are tested via Pillreport and you can get an idea of what's in them from the users on that site. They warned me to never purchase anything in a capsule, because a capsule could have anything in it, and at least if you bought something with a certain color and logo on it, you could research it before you took it. I'm hearing now, that those pills are cut with various bonding agents, and to only buy capsules and test them myself. The problem is, when I'm out socially, I'm not likely to carry testing gear with me, so I tend to end up buying sub-par, fake, or completely bunk MDMA pills. I understand that something 'pure' is rare, and also dangerous to ingest in the same amount of a usual pill, but It's been a waste of money and effort so far, and I'm tempted to seek out capsules in the future. What do you all recommend?

Buy a test kit from dancesafe.org which will tell you what's inside your pill/capsule. Pills are certainly useful because you can test it, then correlate with PillReports to find out the dosage and go from there. The key is to test whatever you take, so you always know what you're taking. PillReports can then tell you how much is in it.
 
get a test kit and sort yourself out before going out, never buy from a stranger in a club
 
If your NOT testing

Pills are IMHO safer as you have a point of reference 'the stamp' you can check the likes of Ecstasydata.org / pillreports, if however you bought the pill several weeks, months after the last report then there is a very strong chance that you may have bought a copy cat. With the 'copy cat' pills the biggest danger is usually PMA / PMMA (yes piperazines will give you a shitty time but not likely to kill you, same as meth, ket etc).

Capsules / powders - can be anything - this mix is just insane but gives you an idea of what could be in an Untested 'Molly' capsule.

that mix actually scares the shit out of me. MAOI's mixed with aMT - a user who knows aMT will not combine these drugs / a dealer would not waste their money - some fucked up person made this with the intent to seriously fuck with a person. Find this person, give me a gun and I will shoot them in the head!

How about purchasing the substances in advance giving you enough time to do the test kits prior the party day? For me MDMA is something special and something to take only on limited occasions. I would not risk that special event on going "blind folded" with some random substance and hoping it's good MDMA and that the dose is good. Just too many variables.
Get the stuff before hand, test it for purity, enjoy the special event knowing you don't have some wierd s*it...

Yeah this. If you're serious about MDMA, want to stay safe and have a blast at the same time, you quite simply must be organized and buy it beforehand. Simply rocking up to a club hoping to find some good pills is an unsafe and risky strategy. If you can find some pills/MDMA, confirm them as MDMA, and then determine dosage, you know exactly what you're getting yourself into, and that's a damn good evening ;).
