First of all, I would like to say hello, as I am new to the forum.

Alright. First a summary: I've used Concerta 54mg XR once, about a year ago with great success. Studying were great, so was social skills, etc. Then it was time for final exams (a month +/- ago) and I got myself a bottle of concerta 36mg XR. I took one for studying, but no effect at all. Next day, two pills, still no effect. I was confused, and stopped using them for a week. Then I tried two more, still no effects. A bit later, I crushed and snorted one and swallowed one at the same time, now with great success! The next day I snorted another crushed pill, suddenly no effect. Two weeks went, I was angry because my pills didn't work, and decided today, I'll give it one more try. At t=0 I swallowed one partly crushed pill, repeated at t+1. When the clock were t+2 and no effects struck me, I repeated the very same process. I could, after a while, feel some effect, not good, rather like a caffeine OD. Unable to sit still, focus, some cottonmouth and muscles shaking, was not what I wanted. At t+6 swallowed the fourth partly crushed pill, which only boosted previous effects. I also felt hungry, like normal.

So, dear bluelight, does any of you have a clue of what's going on here?
Pills are good, 3 friends tested them with great success. Tried swallow on full and empty stomach, no noticeable difference. I use cannabis 3-4 times a month, and tobacco daily, no other drugs.

My last exam is on thursday, so quick answers would please me a lot :)

Answers would be appreciated, thanks!

That's what methylphenidate feels like to me, too much caffeine. It's a shit drug IMO. I wouldn't expect more from it than what you experience.

The XR mechanism basically releases 12mg every 4 hours, at low doses like what's released here only the side effects are present.
IR is the way to go, plus oral use seemed to give side effects only for me, so nasal was my ROA.

That may be, however, I find it strange that MPH has worked perfect in some occasions, and sucked otherwise. Does lack of sleep interfere with MPH use?

Crushing them completely would give the same effects as IR, if I'm not mistaken. What do you mean by ROA?

Allright. I don't like nasal tho, it is very.. messy, in lack of a better name. Also, I don't have alcohol for extraction, nor the time to do it tomorrow. I guess I'll just have to snort it fine crushed, binders or not, along with a regular oral drop.

To the original question, do you have any idea whats wrong with me/my drugs?

Hey, I never was recommending nasal administration. I do not condone snorting methyphenidate, I was listing some ROA's for you as an example.

There's nothing wrong with you or your drugs, you're expecting too much from a shitty drug.

If the effects were different for you before, and others still get those effects when they take these pills, then something has changed your tolerance or the way your body metabolizes the drugs. There have actually been quite a few threads on this phenomenon, not specifically about Concerta but just drugs in general, like people asking "why does ______ drug no longer work on me?" I know that with certain drugs once you have taken them for a while even if you stop for a long time you will no longer be able to get the same effects.

For example, when a person stops taking opioids even for a long period of time and then starts taking them again, their old tolerance level will rapidly come back, starting usually just after a day or 2 of use opioid and continuing to rise for about a week). It's not yet known whether this is caused directly by opioid receptors modified in the past or by effecting some change in metabolism. I'm sure this can happen with other drugs as well.

There could also be other factors that effect your metabolism, like differences in your digestive system, etc.

Don't know what to suggest other than switching to a different drug, or taking a higher dose (be careful though).

Thanks for good answers. Tolerance crossed my mind, but I doubt my tolerance built up THAT quick. Changes in my metabolism is more likely the explanation. I'll try some tricks to speed up my stomach tomorrow, without expecting a big difference.

Yup. Unless you're trying to plug or shoot it (the latter of which is not reccomended, at least by someone not experienced with IVing) than nothing at all will happen. sorry bud.

actually tolerance to methylphenidate does build that fast. after a single use, the effects decrease dramatically IMO. if i were you, just get some adderall or better yet, dexedrine, it works well, and tolerance doesnt build as fast.

methylphenidate was very addicting and intensly euphoric for me when i was 14 and started using it, i eventually sank in the dark hole of amphetamine/stim crash and paranoia, def. not a good feeling, i enjoyed ritalin for 2yrs before it made me dysphoric and nothing but neg. stim effects on my body that was unbearable..cant handle the rug anymore

Concerta is a shifty drug if you try that a few times and then get to try even 5mg of Ritalin
You will see the huge difference.if your really using for a test then
I would suggest Ritalin but only 5 to 10mgs or you will be to hacked up.

And I agree its not you its the drug. I had the same problem.
