concerned about pupil size

I know this may be a question for a doctor, but since today is my first day off of opiates I think it may be drug related.

I started to kick heroin today, with suboxone. I took 4 mg sublingually.

I was sitting in bed watching tv with my girlfriend and she said that one of my pupils was huge and the other was regular. Has this happened to anyone else?

Its really freaking me out, im scared I have some type of brain damage.

Can the stress from kicking heroin cause fixed and dilated pupils. Especially in one eye?
 
Totally a question for a doctor... This could be a lot of things. I know it can be related to brain injury and some pretty serious other shit, but it could also be nothing so my first advice is talk to a medical professional, and wait to see if they go back to normal I guess. Sorry I can't be of more help here. I've never really noticed side effects like this from bupe and I'm fairly experienced with it.
 
yea I realize I prolly cant get a diagnosis here, but im just wanting to hear if anyone has had any similar experience when detoxing off opiates. Im trying to decide whether its related to my drug use or something else.

Im very healthy except for my love of heroin.
 
I agree, this is definitely a question that you should ask your doctor. Not a forum =(. Sorry wish I knew the answer

It might just be due to the buprenorphine, I haven't heard of anyone else talk about this before though. I would see a doctor to be safe, but I don't think you have brain damage or you would have other symptoms.
 
Yea definitely see a medical professional if it doesn't improve by tomorrow. Different sized pupils can be a sign of something serious, or it can be nothing. I had this once after a decent E binge one night, the next day my pupils were different sizes but by the night time they had returned to normal.
 
same here i experience the same thing one pupil was cleary larger then the other but not after a day of doing e not saying that i havent done it either i have done it plenty of times though it went away and came one another time but besides that not too often has it
 
I have had similiar happen... not from heroin or bupe.. but different sized pupils.. I always thought it was my xanax or whatever. I mentioned it too my dr and he said it happens... but anything with your eyes it's imperative to seek medical attention. If it hurts it could be a sign or iritis which is painful inflammation of your iris.. But definatly see your dr.
 
Anytime I or anyone else I know does coke, this happens. I call it cocaine eyes. :)

I know you're not on coke, just sayin', it's weird how this happens with coke but with other stims like MDMA and such, both pupils dilate.

I was going to start a thread just like this one cos ive been wandering the same thing, and have wanted to ask my doctor about it for years,

but the difference for me is that im not a heroin user i am a stimulant user,

between the age of 16 - 22 i took lots of speed, fair amount of coke, quite a lot of acid, and shit loads of mushrooms
then discovered E at 22 from then on that's all i took pretty much every weekend, just very occasional acid trip, line of coke,
did do some crack ashamedly for a few months around 1998/99 ,
it was around then when i first started noticing pill going downhill even though you could still get decent ones,

also it was then too 1998/99 when i and friends started notice the pupil dilation thing
i have searched online for answers to why this is happening/happened
with no luck until i discovered this thread, now i may have answers,


i used to get pretty much pure pupils all the time on drugs
then it started with an obvious difference in pupil dilation, every time i took pills only my left pupil would dilate normally(big) and my right one would stay small
i would still be out my head but only looked it on one side of my face,

this still happens now IF i do get slight pupil dilation it is only the left one and its so weird looking at my eyes as you see a definite drugged left eye & a non drug look in my right eye,
oh i miss my dilated pupils
 
Ha! Hilarious. This happened to me too!!! I was on dope for 3 years, the last year probably without missing a day. My pupils WERE always pinned. I think it has something to do with your eyes readjusting to doing what they are supposed to do, which is react to light. It freaked me out too. Just seeing my eyes freaked me out in general. I wasn't used to seeing so much pupil. It really struck me at first. My pupils started dilating evenly after a few days. I know this can be a sign of stroke, but I didn't have a stroke... seems like long term opiate use can cause it too. Of course the harm reduction answer is to see a doc. BUT it did happen to me =D
 
hey princess, thanks for the pm. like you said im still a greeny so i cant send one back :( but thanks for sharing your experience with us. I fucked up and went and got some more dope today. oh well im def not gonna be able to do it for the next 4-5 days so i guess one slip up is ok. fuck im gonna miss this shit.
 
I've had it happen tweaked out or my mind, one normal, one huge. Freaked me out but I don't think I have dain bramage.
