This is more of a scientific question and those who respond should know something about xenobiotic pathways in the body or drug potentiation aids.

I used to think that I rapidly metabolized MDMA, but I would get all of the downer side effects as well as symptoms of having taken too much. It just didn't make sense. Whenever I take pure MDMA, the peak lasts for 45 minutes and then the experience ends - not even a gradual comedown. It's just done, but I get all the sluggish after effects.

It became especially clear one evening when my friend offered me some LSD which I happily took in advance of the MDMA in order to time the peak. We were at a dance. When the two peaked together it was wonderful, but it became clear that the MDMA was wearing off fast. Then I was left with a full blown acid trip, but no europhic mediation. It was not a good night.

Turns out that my body is neither a slow or fast metabolizer of MDMA, but a partial metabolizer. This has been confirmed with genetic testing. Part enters the normal pathway (hence the short but present high), and the other part enters the backup enzymatic pathway that is particularly hard on the liver (this is how people who can't metabolize something eventually deal with it). Thus I am left with an incomplete high, and all of the lovely after effects.

I know there is no way to change the way my body deals with this, but I'm wondering if there's a way to combine with something to get my body to better utilize what it DOES metabolize so that my MDMA high lasts longer and is at least more worth it. Someone recommended grapefruit juice to me, which I have used on LSD and it seems to work at making things happen faster and for longer... but since it is not known what enzyme works on LSD, I'm not sure if that would work with MDMA.

Any ideas on how I could deal with this? Thank you!
