[Comparison Subthread] Acid vs. Mushrooms

Mushrooms tend to have more of a psychological heaviness than LSD does. LSD is indeed everything it is made out to be. It is the best psychedelic in existence. It can bring you to your knees psychologically, as any decent hallucinogen can, but in my experiences is less likely to. It is kinder on the mind. You took a relatively high dose of mushrooms for your first time as well. Even after having ~50 psilocybin experiences in my life, I rarely go above 2g, in fact starting at about 1g and working my way up. I am cautious with LSD as well. Since one does not know what they are getting on a tab (and these days there are many chemicals which can fit onto a blotter), I usually begin with half of a hit then see how it affects me and go from there.

Welcome to Bluelight, and happy tripping!

They are both fantastic. I generally like LSD more just due to the longer duration. Mushrooms have a more earthy organic feel, the visual aspect seems more fluid and smooth whereas with LSD they seem a little more defined. Mushrooms usually have like a general theme across the whole trip, and I always picture myself putting a seatbelt on when coming up on mushrooms, and they seem to require more mental preparation. LSD on the other hand i can more likely take on a whim, and the experience often morphs into many different stages at will. I feel that i am more emotionally in tact on LSD in general. LSD seems ever so slightly more novel in effects than mushrooms which seem almost godly.

i'll vouch for psilocybin. i've taken lsd before, a double hit of sweet tarts when i was pretty young, and had an amazing experience, but it wasn't what i needed. my next experience with an entheogen was the golden teacher and there was nothing uneasy about it. i immediately fell in love with the gentleness of the trip (i was also in a very good place in my life aside from the psilocybin; in school, with my family, and relationships with strangers)

after i took 5 micro-dots of lsd my whole perspective got jet fueled or something. i lost some grounding after that heavy experience with it and wouldn't suggest taking any more than 5 hits. i would never say to just stay away from it. i myself have come back to it, really recently actually and had a good experience. it could have been better, but the psychedelic experience is always exactly what is appropriate for you at that time, a reflection if you will.

i would experiment more with psilocybin. by yourself too. maybe brew some tea for yourself, or listen to some Mckenna. nothing excites my mind more

considering that my dealer was very knowledgeable and not some sketchy dude just in it to make a buck.

this made me laugh. Everyone thinks their dealer is unlike most dealers, and not in it for the cash etc.

I have nothing to add sorry.

Is LSD better than Cubensis? Most definitely. Better than Panaeolus? Probably not. After my trips with Panaoelus shrooms I think Cubensis are shit, no wonder people dislike them!

Obviously he's doing it to make money.. My point was that he isn't some douche who's going to rip me off..

I think it's interesting how some people prefer one over the other.
It's got to have something to do with personality.

Maybe a poll, to find out if the preference has to do which one the person tried first, especially if either were the first psychedelic experience the person had there could be some bias from that.

I like LSD more. Shrooms is what I do when I run out of LSD. I would rather eat a large dose of mushrooms than a large dose of LSD though. I have never had a bad trip on mushrooms and I have had a few on LSD. It seems scanning back over thread that many people are the exact opposite. I find the effect between the 2 is similar besides trip length. I would advise people who haven't done either yet to start with mushrooms. The visuals seem more round on mushrooms and more spikey in LSD. Both seem equally profound to me.

For me acid is more visual, shrooms are more of a body high, but they are pretty similar, I mean if you've done one you'll recognize the other when you try it. I prefer acid, but that's just a personal preference. But acid does last about twice as long, whether that's good or bad is another matter of personal preference.
I'm the same way with shrooms, it's much more of an intense body high than visual high

I don't have much experience with acid but when I ate 7 grams of shrooms, they hit me within 20 minutes of eating them, and it started with a very intense body high and colors and everything became much brighter, enhanced and vibrant. My visual acuity became much more sharp and when I closed my eyes I was seeing many different colors, shapes, and patterns. But the mental and emotional part of the trip was the most intense, the shrooms made me confront everything that was going on in my life. A day prior to this trip I was on a crack binge and I had a run in with the police and while I was tripping I looked out of the window and there was a car in front of my house and there what looked like a white man sitting in the car and he was facing me and all of a sudden it looked like he was looking at me with binoculars and I became very paranoid and delusional thinking he was an undercover cop coming to arrest me. I was convinced that he knew I was tripping and that I had more shrooms. It's like there was telepathy between him and I and he wanted the rest of the shrooms. I turned off the TV and went and hid in my bedroom, the body high was super intense and I felt a strong sense of impending doom, I decided to go outside and see for myself and when I looked at the car, it was only two teenagers sitting in the car. So I calmed down and everything outside was so vibrant and beautiful and I was able to physically feel the brightness of the world. As I went back inside I became delusional again thinking those two kids in the car were gang members coming to kill me and I was hiding away from the windows. My dad had died a year prior to this and all of a sudden I felt his presence like as if his spirit became alive inside of me and my thoughts were his like as if he was telling me something and I broke down in tears, I cried my eyes out. Everything I was thinking about i could feel physically with my body and my emotions. As I was crying my mother called the house phone and I got emotional with her and hung up the phone and then I heard sirens and I then thought the police had the phone tapped and that they could hear me being emotional on the phone and I thought they were sending an ambulance to get me because I was having a bad trip. So I called my mom back and apologized and because I did that I believed the delusion fueled police sent the ambulance away.i then called my aunt crying saying I could feel my deceased dad and afterwards everything started to mellow out but the body high and enhanced colors and visual acuity stayed very intense until the trip wore off. The shrooms definitely made me confront everything that was going on in my life. This was at a 7 gram dose.

today I am longing for some shroom but eager for some 'cid.
I wont know what it will be until after breakfast and my wife lays out our schedule. (more time for me ->'cid)

'cid drops (25ug) it is, decided by convenience - due to rushing about with some stuff and a wagon while working the details of our apartment move 1/4 mile away.
The limiting fact being I would have to separate out portions from a new sealed 7gram APE package and that will take too long and be too obvious.

I'm more experienced with shrooms and to me shrooms gives me a very intense body high, mental and emotional high. Shrooms make me confront my traumas and whatever is going on in my life and humbles me at larger doses at least. They are very introspective and can be scary in that sense, but I feel connected to nature and the earth in a way no other drug does. Everything looks so beautiful especially when outside, colors and everything is enhanced, visual acuity becomes much more sharp and CEV. Shrooms also make me see life from a different and new perspective

Both of these substances have been used recreationally, for spiritual growth, and, more recently, in scientific research settings for studying the treatment of various mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. It's essential to note that these substances are illegal in many jurisdictions and can be dangerous, especially when misused.

Here is a comparative overview:

Chemical Composition

  • LSD: A synthetic chemical first synthesized in 1938, usually found in the form of a liquid, gel tabs, or blotter paper.
  • Psilocybin Mushrooms: A natural compound found in certain species of mushrooms, usually consumed raw, dried, or as a tea.

Duration of Effects

  • LSD: 8-12 hours, with some lingering effects that can last even longer.
  • Psilocybin Mushrooms: 4-6 hours, generally shorter than LSD.

Onset

  • LSD: Effects are generally felt within 30-90 minutes after ingestion.
  • Psilocybin Mushrooms: Effects are generally felt within 20-40 minutes after ingestion.

Psychological Effects

Both substances can produce:

  • Altered perception of time and space
  • Emotional release or heightened emotional sensitivity
  • Visual hallucinations or distortions
  • Deep introspection or "mystical" experiences
  • Enhanced sensory perception

Physiological Effects

  • LSD: Increased heart rate, elevated body temperature, dilated pupils.
  • Psilocybin Mushrooms: Nausea, especially during the onset, as well as similar physiological effects to LSD like increased heart rate and dilated pupils.

Risks

  • Both substances can trigger anxiety, paranoia, and hallucinations that may be disturbing.
  • There is a risk of "bad trips," which can be psychologically distressing.
  • Both substances can be dangerous in combination with other drugs or in the context of preexisting mental health conditions.

Legality

  • Both are classified as Schedule I substances in the United States, meaning they are illegal to manufacture, possess, or distribute for any purpose.
  • However, some jurisdictions are moving towards decriminalizing or legalizing these substances for medical or personal use.

Research and Therapeutic Use

  • Both LSD and psilocybin are being researched for their potential to treat various mental health conditions, including PTSD, depression, and end-of-life anxiety. Some preliminary results are promising but more research is needed.

Shrooms for me gives a intense body high at any dose, I get a mental and emotional high, in higher doses like 7 grams I became delusional. They make me feel very introspective, make me see things from a new and different perspective and in larger doses will make me confront everything that is going on in my life from past trauma, addiction issues, my behavior and how I treat people. Certainly can be a humbling experience. I get visuals too like enhanced colors, my visual acuity becomes much more sharp, CEV, and everything becomes very vibrant like my body can feel the enhancement of colors and everything, I feel super connected to nature. They can be dark and sinister.
