i took a 20 mg ritalin. (apo) and i was okay. will the adderall be too speedy? I have a sensitive heart

Adderall is generally accepted for having fewer side effects especially in young adults and adults. Unless you have a heart condition, your main concern would be anxiety.

If you have a heart condition, then I must ask why you would seek out amphetamines.

I notice more speedy effects when taking adderall as opposed to Ritalin, but everyone is different and your mileage may vary.

Edit: heart problems are a contraindication to being prescribed stimulants, be careful.

The "sensitive" heart is a bit concerning. If you have a heart condition, you should avoid all stimulant drugs. Otherwise, Ritalin and Adderall are different, two different mechanisms of action, two different classes of drugs. For a healthy individual with no stimulant tolerance, I think 20 mg Adderall XR would be about right for your purposes. A little less might be ideal, but if you don't have a heart condition, you will be fine. The only thing is though, and this applies with most stimulant drugs, is that a higher dose can lead to distraction, and a lower dose prove more effective for purposes of studying, test-taking, cleaning house etc. I don't think 20 mg is too much if it is XR, though.

I have sinus arythmia. The doctor said it is normal and hes not worried. i got an ekg for this reason. He said when i breath in my heart speeds up and when I exhale it slows down. Im sesitive to stimulants like coffee and pre workouts. i havent been able to find much on arythmia other than to not take stimulants if you have a "serious" arythmia. Im not sure if i should take it. My test is tomorrow so its either i pop it or stop researching lol

I would highly suggest Adderal-- better high-- or Vyvanse --better motivation -- if you can get it; Ritalin and the other drugs in it's category (Methylphenidate) are much less focus oriented at least in my experience they seemed almost like a crappy depressant whereas amphetamine-type really keen in on things to help you focus. Methylphenidate makes me want to lie down but my heart is beating too hard to sleep (kind of like what Seriquel was like for me); I can't tell whether I was focused or not; I've heard of other people getting high and focusing off of it but it doesn't happen to me. Vyvanse has less of a speed high and more of a focus/motivated mindset if you can get it (it's a pro-drug that lasts hours and can't be taken any way other than swallowed so make you sure take it as early as possible and try to study in the morning or afternoon because any ADD pill is going to keep you up all night if it hasn't worn off yet, especially if you have no tolerance -- even if you take it early in the morning sometimes it can screw with sleep the first time (happened with me at least). I've always though of Adderal comparatively as the sort of drug people do for euphoria and for fun since you can crush it up and it still works but it'd probably do the focusing and motivation of Vyvanse, since to my knowledge (relatively limited) Vyvanse is basically Adderal that is released much slower in your body than Adderal.
