Comparative Drug Dangers Blog

Heya edtree,

I'll shift this over to AusDD for now.

It may get moved around to other forums afterwards, but it'll go well in AusDD for a start :)

CB.

Obviously the chart itself did not originate in Australia though in case anyone was confused by the title

disagree with a few things,I think crack is more addictive than heroin,at least in the short term, but agree with most of the rest, alcohol should be even higher and tobacco should be ahead of some other drugs, although with tobacco thats a long term harm thing I suppose.

Nice find edtree.

Interesting that tobacco rated so low, even though it kills so many I suppose it wouldn't cause too much harm to others. I wish I wasn't so surprised that Prof. Nutt was removed from a 'scientific' advisory board...

This chart was posted somewhere else, but with harms to the user and harms to society defined. Alcohol in particular scores so highly because of both of these scores being so high.

And how bogus that 3 of my favourite drugs are in the top 4 :p

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments.

I often read the forums but I don't make many posts. I wish I could but writing for my blog takes up a lot of my free time. It's hard not being a natural writer and most articles take much more time than they should. If anyone wants to help and contribute an interesting article, please email me.

BTW - Regarding the chart: I just wanted to show the totals but I couldn't find a simple graph elsewhere, so I created my own from the raw numbers using Excel. In hindsight, I should have labelled it more clearly.

nice work Terry, you are probably a full bottle on this, but here is a link that relates to portugal's decision to decriminalise drugs, and is the results of a study done by Aussie & Pommie eggheadz which is fairly encouraging allround. Encourage all to have a read and pass it on.
