“Facilities that dispense medical marijuana may pose a danger of increased crime, congestion, blight, and drug abuse, and the extent of this danger may vary widely from community to community,” the court said.

The court’s ruling upheld a ban on dispensaries by the city of Riverside. About 200 local governments in California prohibit such storefront operations, and Monday’s decision is expected to lead to more bans.

In fact large counties in Northern California and Southern California have had county government active in prohibiting safe access to patients, Sacramento County, Los Angeles County, Orange, San Diego too.

Why would they go backwards?

Because we have been burned as a culture by transplants and the failed "Green Rush". Californian politicians have been maligned, sidelined and assaulted for California's policies regarding Cannabis reform. You can't stick out too far on social progress without having backlash, and California has suffered alot. Major "growing" regions are full of wealthy white transplants purchasing housing in economically depressed regions, making property rates extraordinary and driving the rural poor out. Simply put California has had to deal with the negative consequences of the Cannabis control war more than other states due to our social liberalism and the rate of American immigration into an economically depressed state.

Dispensaries are still open here.

If things change, I'll start caring. I doubt they will, because nothing changes, that's why.

Thats very naive to assume. Jose Huizar wanted a blanket ban due to abuse, making a medical programme for profit. The city council voted to prohibit all dispensaries, and they are now looking to limit the number of collectives, which will need the destruction of new collective communities to accomplish. But as a transplant you don't follow the news.

“There’s been absolutely no control, and that’s what has hurt the city,” said Brennan Thicke, who runs a pot clinic called the Venice Beach Care Center. “At this point, voters need to finally decide this issue. There’s been an overwhelming belief in this city that medical marijuana should not go away.”

As a member of the the Planning & Land Use Management Committee, I voted to move forward with a citywide ban on illegal marijuana storefronts on Tuesday, May 29. The proposed ordinance would outlaw storefront pot shops in Los Angeles while allowing small groups of patients and their primary caregivers to grow medical marijuana on their own. As Chair of the Public Safety Committee, I will be reviewing the ban in my Committee, after which it will go to the full Council. The ban would be in effect in L.A. at least until the California Supreme Court reviews pending cases.

Alot of closed down dispensaries are caught selling Heroin or Cocaine, having local gang affiliation, also maintaining stock in prohibited federally illegal firearms.

Well it looks like the Los Angeles city government is culling the number of Cannabis dispensaries in the city of a few million or so citizens.

, a ballot measure to sharply limit the number of pot dispensaries in the city was leading in early returns Tuesday.Proposition D would reduce the number of pot shops to about 130 from around 700 by allowing only those that opened before the adoption of a failed 2007 city moratorium on new dispensaries.

Find the ones that aren't super shady like this, and you're golden.

"Today's [Tuesday's] federal actions involve all known marijuana stores in the City of Long Beach; the City of Lancaster; the high desert community of Pearblossom; and the parts of Los Angeles served by the Newton, Rampart and Harbor divisions of the Los Angeles Police Department," the statement said, shamelessly removing each and every point of access to care for ailing residents in those areas.

Not too sure about this but just cuzmthey close the storefront doesnt mean you cant just call some delivery service.

I was often on the central coast and in monterey county you have to use delivery and be a resident in the county, fuckers! Had to drive to santa cruz, but the weed was super cheap there and kind of worth the drive:-)

Then like in shasta, they wont sell joints? Ok!

The "laws" are very inconsistent and a bit strange but cali, oh the promised land of high quality mmj!
